My downstairs neighbor is moving out of his apartment because, after months, the management has failed to correct several serious problems:

1. He and his wife have rats. Several of them. They find rat droppings along their floorboards in the dining room, and there is a large hole in the back of their pantry. Maintainence has known about the problem for months.

2. Their toilet doesn't flush, and their bath tub won't stop running at full-tilt. The noise fills their entire apartment.

3. There is pink mold on the tiles near the bath tub, a mold infestation springing from a leak under the bath tub. The pink color comes from the mold's reaction with the linoleum, and if you pulled up those tiles, you'd find a mess of black goo.

4. Instead of working with my neighbors on the problems, they ignored them, and then pressured them to move out when they complained. They are moving. His wife is about to have a baby, and those apartment conditions are unsafe for the baby. He is taking pictures of the damage to report to the housing authority, so they can hopefully get their deposit and some rent back when they move.

They only moved in a few months ago. This is ridiculous. Their neighbors moved away because the management would not replace their front door - it would not seal properly, and their living room carpet flooded every time it rained. My husband and I live upstairs, so we don't have the flooding and the critter problems, but we do regularly experience sluggish maintainence calls.

Don't live in the Pelican Point apartments. There are too many people working in the office, but nothing gets done aside from new condo/apartment sales.
