HORRIBLE!

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
When I went to look at the model apartment and speak with the staff, everything seemed perfect! However, from the moment I moved in I had numerous problems. First of all, there was no carpet when we were supposed to move in so we had to wait for it to be installed. During the carpet installation the walls were hit and so when we did actually get to move in there were holes and scuffs all over the walls and doors-- all the while we were still having to paint rent. The carpet did not even have a pad underneath, it was just carpet on top of cement. Not sure why but for some reason if you walked around on our "brand new" carpet with socks on or barefoot your feet were completely black! Also, the apartment we were assigned to looked nothing like the model apartment. The living room was a COMPLETELY different size and layout. After we moved in, I noticed my shower didn't work properly. Maintenance told me it was the shower head and they would replace it. After several maintenance requests, I finally just bought a new shower head on my own, which did not fix the issue. I continued to submit multiple requests and even spoke with maintenance themselves and never got it fixed. I ended up having to shower in my roommates bathroom the entire time I lived there. Each month they send out notices when people are late on rent or there is a fee. Every single month, except 2, I recieved eviction notices saying I had overdue fees-when in reality I was never late on rent once. Each month I'd have to go back down to the office with my receipt (that they gave me when I had paid rent) and show them what they already had on file. Eventually I learned to just go down the day after I paid my rent and have them make an extra copy of my receipt. The managers refuse to speak to the residents. They have college students who work at the front desks who are basically just taught to put you off so the managers don't have to deal with you. I even tried contacting someone at corporate but was only referred to another college student who couldn't help me. They changed the locks without informing my roommate and I, who didn't get home until 11 at night from work. Its a pleasure to come home after an hour drive and not be able to get into your own apartment. We had to wait to find someone who happened to know one of the maintenance worker's phone number. The registry also claims to have a computer lab, which only consists of one computer that actually works full time & the printer only worked one time out of the several I tried to use it. The hallways are disgusting. They don't clean them.. ever! There is spilled beer, puke, & people's trash all through them and they are never cleaned. They also go into your apartment without permission. One time my roommate was home alone, in the shower, and without any notice some cable guys just unlocked the doors and walked in. Luckily she heard them and got dressed. Of course the cable guys' excuse was that they knocked.. but we had never got a notice there would be cable workers coming by so how were we supposed to know' Oh and I almost forgot... we started getting electric overage charges around December. The first few times we got them we paid them but then it got a little ridiculous. We went down to the office to find out the overage was a mistake. The next 2 months were cleared, but we turned off our a/c all together anyway to avoid the overages. Somehow, in the middle of February, with no a/c on, we managed to get a $300 electric bill, when 2 out of the 3 roommates were only there Monday-Thursday. I could go on and on about all the problems I had with this place.. Regardless, DO NOT move here! If you think its nice and close to campus trust me, you can find a nicer place and drive to campus! Its worth every bit! DO NOT MOVE HERE!
