Overpriced

These are the 1BR apartments on Dolphin Drive managed by Harris Properties. I moved in May 2005 and moved out August 2006.

PROS: Overall experience was good. When I moved in, everything was brand new and I loved it. I have had one big maintenance problem that was fixed within 24 hours. The management is responsive, however I always made sure to put everything in writing. And don't expect to get any kind of break; your lease is the contract, no negotiating. I did have a problem hooking my dryer up, you need longer than 8 feet for the exhaust vent, which is pain to find. There is alot of storage space and it is a decent one bedroom apartment convenient to I-65, Kroger, and a fitness club (PS: Make sure to give Etown Swim and Fitness 30 days notice of canceling your membership -- THEY WILL COME AFTER YOU). I got my security deposit back promptly -- however, again, I put everything in writing, including my request for my deposit in a timely manner.

CONS: After I lived there for a year, it became apparent that all the nice new stuff in the apartment was very low quality. The hardware came off the cabinets and my husband had to superglue them back on. The railings on the front steps came off. The carpet looks nice but stains quite easily and wears HORRIBLY. Some of the neighbors are sketchy -- they are friendly but a little too rowdy for me. The only noise problem is if your neighbor slams their door. It is extremely loud and disturbing if they do.

This is a good location, but definitely overpriced, especially when the apartments get some wear on them. You can get a similar apartment in Louisville, a much better location, for less money. I wouldn't pay it -- if you look at little longer I bet you can find a cheaper place that's just as good in Etown. I would recommend only if you don't care about paying $500/month for a small 1BR apartment.
