Upon moving in I did the check off list to let the managment know what was wrong with the unit. I found cigarette burns on the counter tops, doors on the cabinets either coming off or in bad repair, stains in the carpet and the bathtubs and sinks chipping. The tubs had been repaired and within a few weeks started to fall apart again. Bathroom had a towel cabinet hanging on the wall at one point in time but was not there when I moved in and the holes had been painted over. Carpets had been shampooed when I moved in but within a couple if weeks stains were already seeping back through from the padding. After about a week of thinking that the tub porceline was chipping I realized that it was THICK soap scum and had to use a drill and a wire brush to get it clean. Imagine after moving in and these things coming up I really didn't want to be there and couldn't care less if the place fell apart around me. I recently moved to a new apartment complex (the Legends at Steeplechase check em out) and EVERYTHING is 100% better. The Vineyards are definitly an older building and they are extremly overpriced compared to other newer and better maintained apartments.

I just wanted to say that I am the Manager here at the Vineyard and the person who wrote this turned in his Move-In sheet saying that there was nothing wrong with the apartment. And, during this person's stay here he never brought up any problems that he had with the apartment so we might make them better. I did not find these things out until reading this post. So, just some advice...if you are ever having a problem in an apartment community speak to someone in the office(preferably the manager) and try to get things resolved before you say bad things. It's always best to give people a chance.

Most places would not take the time to defend themselves because they know that the property is in top shape and will do the talking for them. On the other hand if I had to try to lease this property to a prospective customer I would do it like this. Buildings are designed in the unique and classic styles from the early to mid 80???s. All fixtures and lighting are from the same period and are near antiques. Due to the value of these meticulously cared for one-of-a-kind beauties we are offering this property at or around fair market value. Please note that the ???lake view??? will be extra due to the serenity that this 1.27 acre ???lake??? will provide. This property is located in an established neighborhood not too far from the local police station for quickest possible response times.
So let us break this down further. Upon moving into any new place, whether it is a new home or a new apartment, it takes time to realize what all of the faults are. So, on the check off sheet I marked down the immediately obvious: stained carpet, chipped paint on corners, blinds are taped up, etc??? starting to get the idea? Once I turned in the move-in sheet it became obvious that they had me where they wanted me because the response was ???we are not worried about stuff like that???. This statement simply indicated that these flaws were too miniscule to address and would be something I could live with. As time went by I began to notice other problems and due to the previous nonchalant attitude, I felt that it was useless to report them. So, in my miserable attempt to spare others from falling into the same horrible predicament, I strongly suggest that you view other apartments before you settle on this one.
