Lakeside Village Apartments

Horrible. Awful.
Let's start with the staff: these women will do everything short of insulting you if you speak to them on the phone. In person, they're nothing but mindless sycophants, trying their best to get you out of the office so they can do their work. WHAT WORK DO YOU HAVE TO DO IF IT ISN'T PLEASING THE CUSTOMER'
For instance: now that I'm attempting to move out, I called them about a month in advance of my lease expiration to see what I had to do to move out. They surprised me by telling me that I had to give a SIXTY DAY notification to move out, despite my lease ending. Not only that, when I protested that this didn't make sense, they threatened to take me to debt collectors if I didn't pay.
Here's another one: construction has been an absolute nightmare. As I'm sitting here writing this, they're hammering new siding onto the walls. They have a ladder on the stairs leading up to our door.
Oh! My favorite story: they replaced the door, and attempted to give notification when they did so. Our first notice came on Feb. 27, saying that they would be coming to replace it either the 28th or the 29th, weather permitting. We got FOUR such notifications, and when they finally did come to replace it, there was no notification whatsoever. And the feckless idiots at the front were involved in this, too: I had to go to Chicago for a few days, from March 10-15, and before I left, I called and asked the front office if there were any plans to replace my door while I was gone. They assured me that there were not, but that if something came up, they would call me. I gave them my number, and hung up, still feeling uneasy. For good reason; I got back in town at about 1:30 a.m. on the 16th to find a notification on my door from the 13th that they were going to replace my door on the 14th or 15th. No call.
You know what' This place would be fine if nothing ever went wrong. This isn't all, either. We've had recurring water problems. When we first moved in, and for the first nine months of our time here, we had to wait five minutes just to get hot water to take a shower. Now, after they've renovated the apartment below us and gotten higher-paying tenants in that apartment, we can barely get cold water at all. And during the renovation of the apartment downstairs, the workers did something to screw up the pipes, and sent rust-colored water into our apartment for about a week. We again went to the front and demanded to know why our water looked like crap, and the woman's response was, "I don't know that. How would I know that'"
These people are feckless, unhelpful, ineffectual, stupid, offensive morons that will make you hate what could otherwise be a nice apartment. And God help you if there is ANY construction (picture people walking on and re-shingling your roof at 8 a.m. on a Saturday).

Way to go!!! You hit the nail on the head. They are the worst management staff of any apartment complex anywhere. I am glad that you are leaving if only to retain your sanity. I cannot believe the city allows this to go on. Lakeside Village is anything but the place to call home. They should turn it into a prison...I think inmates get more respect and care than those who reside there. The front office and the staff would have NO job if not for the people that live there and pay rent. I was raised not to bite the hand that feeds you! They don't bite...they devour! If anyone is looking for a nice place to live, trust me this is not it...It's a hell hole!

I understand you completely. That place has had water problems for more than 5yrs. It sounds to me like they are not getting any better. I used to live there and issues I had were monsterous. The propery is old, rundown, out dated and in desperate need a employment overhaul. I complained to the Corp. Office and they are just as rude as the rest of them. Maybe it is a company wide thing.... lol.
