I like it but have complaints

The Truth: Hampton Farms is a nice place to live. Even during Spring and Fall times when parties should be raging, the place remains relatively quiet. I have seen some cops stop by on a couple of occasions, but that is typical of an apartment complex that houses primarily college students (one block away from Northern Kentucky University).
However, there are some problems with the administration and with the quality of building materials. The administration can be a little snobby, and is not always helpful. They will make claims that they will put in requests for you, but RARELY will they follow up. Our water was shut off early one day due to a water main break, but they did leave notices until much later that day. Imagine your toilet filling up with sediment and wreaking of sewage. Also, the air filters they change once a year are month $3 air filters. Needless to say, we have replaced ours with an solid $20 3 month allergenic filter. Also, the paint on our door start chipping about a week after we were there and you can tell it has been painted many a times over. All light fixtures and water fixtures are very cheap and include whatever bulbs the person(s) before you had in them - which is typical. The window fixtures are another story, they were cheap when the building was built I am sure, and they are beginning to break in our apartment. A lot of the weather stripping is torn away if it has weather stripping at all. They are also thin and drafty windows.
Another small complaint is that they closed our pool 2 weeks before the posted date on the lease, even though the weather was still in the 80's. This was frustrating.
Ok Back to more good things. Parking seems awesome at the complex, I've never had to park farther than is worth complaining and generally get an awesome parking spot. The location is absolutely phenomenal, my girlfriend is getting her masters at NKU and that is within walking distance. The police department is literally right down the road. There is a nearby krogers (maybe half a mile) and tons of other stores down route 27 (in Alexandria). During the Fall there is a farmer's market that has very good produce. Response to major maintenance issues is above average, and they really do keep the grounds clean. I rarely see random trash, as people seem pretty respectful.
Probably not the best environment for young kids as there is a large amount of college students (I'd say in the 70% range), and I did see a couple of streakers one day. Which is funny to me, but not to adults with kids I would imagine.
Ok that's my two cents. Overall I would suggest this to a friend, but I would tell my friend that if had more than $700 a month to afford rent and utilities to look elsewhere, especially if he wasn't going to NKU.
