This post is from a REAL resident and not a fake, commercial review written by someone who owns this place or works here.
This is an honest review of Chinoe Creek. We have lived here almost a year. This is a great neighborhood and you can walk to a small shopping center which is very nice. The people who work in the office are also generally nice. We do not have a personal problem with anyone, just the way we have been treated as tenants. There really are a LOT of problems with this place. First of all, you pay for amenities you will never get to use.
The pool: It is constantly full of people who do not live here. People are often drunk, swimming around with beer cans in their hands. You can never get a chair and the few that are provided are broken. We got to use the pool three times all summer because we could never get one of these broken chairs. We spent extra money to go to the public pool down the street. When we informed the office, they simply said there was nothing they could do. Why not give out pool passes and check them'' I guess that is too much work.
The gym: It is always dirty and the elliptical machine is almost always broken.
The tanning bed: This room is also always dirty and the cheap, plastic fan provided is also broken.
The business center: There really isn't one. None of the equipment ever works. You call and are told "it is going to be fixed". This never happens.
We expected to be able to use these amenities. After all, we do pay for them. You kind of get the impression that once you move in here, they don't care to fix these issues since they legally have you locked in.
As for the apartments, you can hear EVERYTHING that goes on next to you and above you, I'm told. We received a notice for "loud voices" when I was the only one home, watching tv one night. We can also hear dogs crying and howling all day. We have a collicky baby so I have never complained about anyone else, knowing that they probably have a similar problem.
During the winter, our sidewalks were not salted. I fell with my newborn daughter, who slid across the ice in her carrier. Only after I called and told about this did they come salt the walk. I imagine they were afraid of a lawsuit.
There are also random, leashless dogs and cats that wander the property. And also, the internet you pay for often does not work. However, you still have to pay the full price.
Despite all this, we planned to stay another year but move to a quieter, first floor apartment with more space. We were told that we were "marked down" for this specific apartment. I even offered to sign a lease and was told I didn't need to and that I just needed to stop by and pick up the keys on the move in date. Three weeks later, we are told they leased the apartment to someone else because they "forgot" to "mark it down". We had already packed and hired movers since we were going out of town for a few days. I guess these other people are more important, even thought they were assigned to an unavailable apartment. They have apologized but will not give us the apartment we were promised. We are simply given options to move to another apartment one and a half months later than we had planned to move. How is this an acceptable answer' Why are we being told to figure something else out instead of them moving the other people to a different apartment' The person who made this mistake did not even call to apologize to us. My husband had to call to find out what was going on after we were told they would try to figure something out. I think they would never have even called us back. I understand that mistakes happen, but it really seems like no one cares about us, even after we have spent our money to live here for almost a year. Marking an apartment as "occupied" is a basic job function. The worst part of all, is that the apartment complex we now want to move into is full and we could have gotten in three weeks ago. We have been completely hosed. They should do the honorable thing and just let us get out of here. They will not let us leave, saying we have to give a notice. However, WE were not given thirty days notice that our apartment was going to be given away.
Now, we have no place to go and do not want to live here. We feel angry, hurt, and mistreated by a business we have paid good money to. This was the first place we lived after we got married and the place we brought our newborn daughter home to. That is why, despite the bad conditions, we considered staying. If you move here, get everything in writing. Apparently, they will not honor their word. I guess we are just dollar signs to them. We lived in Park Plaza before this. It was a lot more expensive, but I guess you really do get what you pay for.
Oh...I also think people should know that the electric bills here run over 100 dollars a month, no matter what. The insulation is terrible. Our stove is also a piece of junk, even though we were told our kitchen would be "updated" and these updates are not happening. Instead, you get a choice of one update IF you renew.

This is the Property Manager and I first wanted to apologize for all the issues and concerns you have had. I do want to speak on behalf of all my staff and say we take pride in Chinoe Creek to make sure EVERYONE has an enjoyable life style. And most of all we want to make sure all the issues anyone has are being taken care of. This is the first time any of this has been brought to my attention. I live here myself and I know my family and I use the amentities quiet often and I have not had these issues although you may have. Please contact myself or anyone at the Leasing office and we will take care of any issue you have. I apologize once again!

I have called on separate occasions about each and every one of these issues. Granted, it was not the property manager I always spoke to, but all of these issues have been reported and nothing has been done. My husband and neighbors have also called. Half the time I had to leave a message with the answering service because no one answered the phone. I honestly just gave up. The apartment being leased out behind our backs was the final straw. And I don't feel like we need to be contacting YOU about the issue with the apartment, you all need to be trying to resolve this and contacting US with a reasonable solution instead of saying you will call someone or figure it out and then never call us back. We might have signed a lease but we also have rights and we will make sure they are respected. If the leasing agents are not communicating issues to you then that is a problem you have in your office. I am not a liar and I am not making anything up. I don't appreciate that insinuation after everything this place has already put us through. And this is not the first time our apartment issue has been brought to your attention and you know it. I personally thought you were all nice people (and still do), despite the deficiencies here and that is a lot of the reason the handling (or lack of handling) of our issues is so hurtful.

It sounds like what these people in your office have done is screw you over for money. If you already had a lease, it sounds like they were going to renew or transfer you into a different apartment. This means you didnt have to sign a new lease right away. Instead, the leasing consultants decided to rent out that apartment to someone else and are trying to force you to take something else to make more money. I have worked in real estate and have seen this. Shady, shady!!! I dont know why you would say the office staff are still nice people. They screwed you over, big time!! You could sue them or call the Better Business Bureau. I think you can even call the Fair Housing Authority. And if I were a member of that apartment staff, I would not get on these websites and show my ass with fake comments. It is obvious which ones are fake. I work at a competing complex and I will make sure I use this info to help me lease people in over here. We would not treat anyone like that. Post your e-mail address and I will send you my info and we can make you a good deal here.

Sounds like nothing has changed at OLD Chinoe Creek Apartments. Even though staff and owners have changed, sounds like things are still not getting fixed and major shady business dealings. You need to speak to someone at Tenant Services and the BBB. REPORT! REPORT! REPORT! If you don't then you have NOTHING to complain about. Take action for yourselves. Don't let them treat you this way.
