I moved in during the winter of 2008. The very first day in the apartment the toilets were both clogged had to get maintenance to put draino down them so we could use them. The refrigerator and stove were both clunkers the fridge didn't get cold and only half the burners worked to I had them took away and bought new ones out of my own pocket. The kitchen sink faucet leaked and my husband bought a new one out of pocket and fixed it. The plumbing under the kitchen sink leaked we called maintenance to fix it. It took them 3 visits to do it, and they still never replaced the bottom of the kitchen cabinet that had rotted out due to this. Maintenance either does not have the knowledge and /or management will not supply the proper materials to make repairs properly. When I went to plug my telephone and other appliances in the outlets the cord fell back out of the sockets cause they are wore out and full of paint. The living room floor is badly uneven because the living room floor has rotted out and when they replaced it they did not put it back in level. The same is true of the bathroom it is so uneven that the toilet sits nearly side ways. All the door and windows are at least 30 years old and are not energy effeicient most are painted shut and the ones that you can get open have to be proped up with something or they fall back down. When codensation forms on the windows then it drips on to the window seal and runs onto the nightstands and nearly ruined our furniture and even ran into my $130.00 cordless phone and ruined it by short circuiting it and mangement did not replace it also black mold bagan to grow on the window seals. The plumbing is so bad in this building that maintenance has asked us not to use the washer/dryer or dishwasher or garbage disposal bacause the plumbing stays clogged up and the plumbing can only accomadate the toilet and the shower and the kitchen sink which are necessary. The shower runs hot then cold never stays one temperature, so you can't enjoy a shower, Also you may go a day without water or electric cause they are frequently working on it, and due to the constant water leaks their is mold growing in the ceilings of the lower apartments. You cannot control the heat or air yourself. Also 2 days ago the living room ceiling bagan to crack down the middle but by judging from it that is nothing new you can see numerous cracks that have been patched in the past due to a leaky roof. The balconys are nearly falling off the buildings and the paint is chipping off of them and give you splinters. The building has very poor insulation you can hear neighbors moving and talking in the hallways and the ajoined apartments. Also none of the buildings are handicapped accsessable if you have a family member who is on crutches or in a wheel chair be expecting to carry them in cause even the first floor you have to go down one flight of stairs to get to it, and up one to the second floor and two flights to the third floor,and also there is no service elevator so you have to pack all furniture, groceries, and laundry up or down stairs. also the apartments have no washer or dryer hook ups so if you buy one it has to be a compact apartment washer. They have to resort to false advertising to get people to move in, they advertise a gym and other ammenties, insist on seeing them first. The gym is a joke not one piece of equipment works in there. They took out the so called business center which was nothing but 3 broke down computers on a desk, the place does not have internet service as it advertises. The tennis court is never available, the volleyball court has no net up, and the childrens playground has no swings and is literally falling down. Also when you come to rent they will not show you the actual apartment you will get, they only show you their model apartment that is kept in pristine condition. The reason for this is bacause of the carpet stains, outdated cabinets, leaky windows that won't stay up, door knobs that don't match. If you do decide to rent from them insist on seeing actual apartment before signing lease. The steps are never salted when it gets icy you pretty much have to make any repairs or salt the steps or sidewalks if you want it done. My husband and mother fell down them at different times and my daughter twisted her ankle after a ice storm. There is no mailbox for outgoing mail you have to drive to town to mail any outgoing mail. Also the complex is about 1/2 mile from the bus stop if you have children. I also would not recomend using the grilling areas or going for walks cause the grounds are spotted with dog feces cause they do allow big dogs here and no one picks up after them or any other litter that tenants/thugs throw down. Which is no big suprise cause they are suppose to do back ground checks but they allow anything in here if you got a hundred dollars for a application fee and the first months rent then you are in. When I rented from them I went through rent.com and even had them to note it on my lease the office staff would not even confirm it to rent.com so after rent.com sent then the 3rd and final notice they sent me the $100.00 reward card. That is another example of what a ineffcient office staff this place has running it. I really would not recommend this place it is also in a bad section of town on top of everything else you have center parkway right down the street which is the public/ghetto housing. The place is not up to code that is why they don't even accept section 8. I would actually recomend the public housing before this place which I have friends that live in it, and it is kept up better bacause the housing authority makes them keep it up to code and they even have washer/dryer hook-ups for full size washer/dryers.
