I have lived here for almost 3 years now and when I first moved in, things weren't great but they certainly weren't the way they are now! Us being made to pay utilities out of the blue without compensating us with a lower rent is a huge pain and is the main reason I won't be living here after my lease is up. I live in a studio apartment and am now paying right at $500/month between rent and utilities. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem paying my utilities, but I want to pay for what I use. This whole deal about dividing it up based on square footage and number of occupants is EXTREMELY shady. I'm going back to the office tomorrow b/c I saw on the management website that studios start from $300/month. I know I'll have to take my laptop with me and show the office staff because they know absolutely NOTHING. I have been so upset since I read that today. Also, my studio rent is supposed to include the use of a balcony. The first year I lived in this apartment, the column was cracked SUBSTANTIALLY, so I couldn't use it. They FINALLY decided to fix the balcony when the balcony of another complex collapsed. Now, less than a year later, I have yellow "Caution" tape on the balcony door and can't use the balcony because they didn't replace them the right way. My lease is up in September and I'm already looking at other complexes. This has to be as bad as it gets. One good point, however, is the parking (although that's because everyone is MOVING OUT as soon as they possibly can!) Honestly, only move here as the VERY VERY last resort. Otherwise, you are going to get screwed beyond measure.
