Can't believe I've spent three years here.

I had problems with the staff from day one. They lost mine and my roommate's applications and didn't know it until we called them asking why no one had contacted us about our approval. Then, we were told the apartment we had been offered (which had a view of the pool and leasing office) wasn't vacant and hadn't ever been vacant. At that point, we HAD to move, so they gave us a two-bedroom apartment on "the bad side of the street" (that's what the property manager called it when she was showing us the apartments and she even said we wouldn't be living there). The move-in maintenance hadn't been done, so we had to vacate the apartment for three days while the paint on the counters, sinks, and bathtub dried. After we'd been there a week, the water from our upstairs neighbors' shower started running down the walls into OUR shower. I do have to give kudos to maintenace--they solved the problem and were very friendly about it. But forget emergency maintenance--they're always rude. My side of the street had no groundskeeping whatsoever and the pool was filthy. I moved into a one-bedroom, alone, and things just got worse. They talked me into getting a two-year lease, telling me that rent was going up in the next year, so I'd be getting a really good deal. Things were worse. There was a new head of maintenance and he couldn't care less about anyone's problems. When I complained about the half-inch gap under my front door, he shrugged it off, saying the door had "settled" and there was nothing they could do. He also said there was nothing they could do about the fact that my bathtub drain stop doesn't work. I've had to have my garbage disposal replaced twice and my dishwasher has leaked water all over my floor. When I called emergency maintenance, they said they didn't do garbage disposal calls. DESPITE the fact that they had done one for me not even a year prior. And despite the fact that my sink was literally spewing recycled water from the dishwasher. My fiance had to threaten the property manager with a call to the Better Business Bureau and they've been much nicer with me since. The light in my breezeway (second floor) was out for three weeks in the winter, even though me and my neighbor had reported it twice. I finally asked them, point blank, why it hadn't been fixed. The property manager said they didn't have a ladder tall enough to reach it. That was honestly her excuse! I asked her how hard it was to find a taller ladder and it got replaced within the next 20 minutes. You really have to call them and aggravate them to death to get anything done. There was also a leak in my bathroom ceiling from the a/c freezing up (because I couldn't control it with the thermostat--it was either on all the time or off all the time if no one was home). They had to come twice before they finally fixed it. Then they left the place a mess. I came home one day after maintenace had been here to find my crock pot situated under my garbage disposal to catch the water that was leaking out of it. And last, but not least, all of mine and my fiance's jeans were stolen from a dryer in the laundry room. And I know I'm not the only person who's had these problems. I've had three friends who lived here experience most of the same things.

Yup - - - pretty bad... Our problem is we are still recovering from Katrina and really can't afford to move although - def by this summer... The staff sucks... The gal sits behind the computer and surfs the web while you are attempting to talk with her - pretty piss poor customer service but then again - I guess you really do get what you pay for... Problem is Tenant Landlord Law in Lexington... Tenants cannot withhold rent to pressure a landlord to do thier job...
