Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2008
I moved into Fayette Crossing several months ago with my girlfriend, only signing a three month lease expecting that I would be moving to Indianapolis in Autumn to attend school. We rented a ground level, one bedroom apartment conveniently located next to the parking lot. The insides of the apartment appear to have been updated recently and show some wear and tear, but overall for the price are a very good deal. The staff has been helpful and quite amicable in many issues and has been mostly helpful, aside from a few issues. The closets are spacious and is not a bad place to live. The only downside I've really noticed is that the air conditioning in the apartments will not keep it as cool as you may like (but still does provide some relief from the summer). We had an issue once with the air conditioning unit leaking, but this was promptly and expertly fixed. However there is one reason that would definitely cause me to definitely consider whether or not I would recommend these apartments to anyone and that is because that our bathroom ceiling has been leaking for the past two months. I called the day that it had started and was told that a work request would be placed. Two days later nothing had been done so I inquired as to when the work request would be fulfilled and was informed that there had not been one put in. I was later informed there was a delay with certain unavoidable circumstances with some tenants that was causing this problem to be left unresolved, but was assured that it would be taken care of. The leak has cleared up for one to two days at a time before, but always returns, and sometimes is quite heavy. After maybe a week we were told that the issue had been resolved. However, the ceiling still dripped. We called nearly every other day for two weeks to see if the problem would be resolved and it was not. Now our wall has patches of mold and is sinking in from water damage. Recently, we were told last Friday that maintenance would be here to finally fix the issue, however nobody came. We do have pictures of this leak and have thought of escalating it to the Office of Building Codes, Tenant Services, and the Health Department (as certain species of mold can be hazardous to health, even life threatening, and not to mention the fact that we have no idea of what may be in the water we have to come into contact with and clean up daily, I recently purchased a pair of mopping gloves as I do not want to be in contact with the drainage of what may be someone else's toilet). While I do not mean for this review to be insulting to the character or work ethic to any of the individuals employed by Empire Management, you would think that an issue like this would have been treated with more urgency. We have not even been offered any sort of compensation for the troubles we have been through, as I know that most places offer. Hopefully the next living situation that we choose will not be such a disappointment.
