Don't Get Swindled

I am a former resident of The Meadows.
I recently moved due to a job transfer.
I talked to the manager about this twice before I moved.
He told me that I would have to pay two months rent, if I moved prior to the end of the lease.
When I moved out of the apartment, the office was closed (during normal business hours).
I had to pay to send the keys back.
I received a call from the asst mgr requesting my forwarding address to send me my full deposit.
I thought this was unsual, so I questioned her about it.
Two days later, I received a letter stating that there was damage to the apartment and I was now required to pay three month's of rent.
I have contacted the manager of the local renter's association.
My advice to you is to take pictures of the apartment before and after you move (as I did) and document everything.
If you call the office for maintainence issues, document it.
I didn't get anything fixed until I told them that I was recording the phone calls.
My door was never fixed.
Make sure that your documentation includes the date, time and the name of the person that you spoke to.
