Maybe it's unfair for me to review my time at Old Farm. I will admit that before I moved here I lived in what is deemed as "luxury apartment living" here in Lexington. I had the same type of apartment 2bd/2ba and the same amenitites, but all were, as you would imagine, were nicer with the more rent. What I found to be the most unsettling though, is that the more rent actually just paid for better neighbors. Old Farm has some interesting people living here.
I have been very lucky in the three other neighbors that shared my breezeway. Most other people that I talk to here though have not been so lucky. But I supposed you get that at any place.
I personally don't have a problem with the amount of dogs that are here at Old Farm. I do wish people would clean up after their dogs, but I'm glad Old Farm allows them to be here.
WHAT I DON'T LIKE:
------- in the front office is completely useless. And yes, I'm signaling her out. No one in the office has ever been that helpful, but she takes the cake. I've actually started having my roommate call when things go wrong, act like a dumb blonde, and somehow ------- relates. I don't have as much luck.
The first day we moved in, our apartment wasn't ready. This really irritates me. We had stuff to move and they act like it's no big deal. Then when we get to our apartment the door wouldn't latch because of a bad prior fix job. Someone had apparently kicked the door in (you can tell by the broken wood of the door frame) and the great staff here just nailed it back together. We refused to sign the lease until that was fixed and we got looked at like we were crazy.
The first weekend we were here a guy tried to break-in to our apartment. Lexington police were already on the scene before I even woke up to know what was going on. On-site staff was no where.
Month two (August) our air-conditioning went out. I called to complain, some guy, who really doesn't know what he's doing, comes to check it out and says, "well, yeah, it's hot outside". That is simply unexceptable. This was a Tuesday. We were told that "people" (never really were told who) had to come look at it. Told they were going to be here on Friday. Never came. I called, "oh they're going to be here tomorrow." They did come, but didn't do anything. "Oh, they'll fix it Monday." I was willing to wait until Monday, but then when nothing happened and we were never called to be told what was going on I flipped out. I contacted my attorney and asked -------- the next move she wished to take. She told me to go to a hotel and it would be fixed the next day. So after a week, in the hottest part of the summer, we finally got our air conditioning fixed. I'm not mad that it took that long, I'm mad that I was never given a straight answer, or the attitude of "it's not my problem".
The stairs leading to the second floor of each apartment are made out of concrete. One day, not our building, the stairs fell. Meaning the concrete smashed below leaving the people on the second floor stranded. This wasn't fixed for 36 hours! Really glad I didn't live there.
Our microwave went out at the beginning of December. I told the office right away. They sent someone to look at it, naturally they couldn't do anything. Sears was called, no idea what they did. I had to call the office again, still not working. LOng and short of it is, I didn't get the microwave until middle of January, apparently they changed suppliers because of our apartment and things worked out. Again, I'm not mad at the time, I'm mad about the lack of communication with the office. Great, Sears isn't doing their job, well, then let me know that.
There is a problem with getting your bill each month for that month's rent. Water is billed along with rent so you really do need the bill before you submit your payment. Twice we didn't get the bill until after the 1st of the month. They tried to charge us a late fee but my roommate again just talk to ------- like she was a sorority girl and it was waived.
I have lived in much better and much worse. If it wasn't for the office staff and they way they run things I honestly wouldn't be as negative about this place. I'm moving to Louisville and my roommate is finding a one bedroom here in Lexington. When I asked her why doesn't she just move to a one bedroom here at Old Farm, she said she simply couldn't put up with ------- and -------- for one more year. And that is the only reason she's moving. She'd rather spend more money a month and get her cat declawed (the other places require it) then to put up with the office and their staff of idiot repairmen. AD2Hw9Wn8Umb3NN1w1jt

And I thought I had it bad when I lived there...I feel very sorry for you. Oh and one thing about ------- - when she showed me the tanning bed, I saw she had a Sun Tan City key chain on her keys and after she showed me the disgusting tanning beds, I quickly realized why she went somewhere else. I also started going to Sun Tan City. Who wants to use tanning beds at Old Farm when there is always broken glass and beer bottles all over the room? And you have to bring your own towels and cleaner to sanitize your bed. It's so gross. One more thing about -------....I always thought she must live there rent free to be a sorority girl and put up with living in a hell hole.
