I haven't seen any posts since the end of 2007, so I figured I'd give my two cents. I've lived here for about 5 months. So far, so good. I don't much care for living on the North side of town, but there are many conveinent aspects of living here. Everything is really really close. You're minutes from downtown, you've got shopping across the street, resturants, and Kroger is just up the road. Granted, it's still the "dreaded North side" but it's really not that bad. The apartment complex itself isn't horrible as far as the "neighborhood" goes. The residents that I've met there are actually pretty nice. I guess I'll go down the list of ratings and give my opinion, to make things organized.
Parking - In my opinion, parking in every apartment complex more or less sucks. It just depends on what time you get home. Their parking lot is angled so that it accomodates more spaces, but still, there's 8 buildings to allot for. The apartment complex can't be at fault because you didn't get home just after 5:00 and get the space right in front of your door, but that doesn't mean there's not parking. You might have to walk through the grass... big deal; it's not that much of a problem in my opinion. And I leave my car unlocked from time to time, not thinking about it. I've left laundry baskets in there, a carton of cigarettes, etc, and my car hasn't been broken into. Once again, that's not the apartment complex's fault if such a thing were to happen (in response to a previous posting)... that sort of thing can happen ANYWHERE. Anywho, there's plenty of lighting around, and all in all is pretty safe.
Noise - I'm not going to say that I never hear my neighbors, but they're not overly noisy either. I know I'm not a saint, and I'm sure people hear me from time to time too. Not a complex thing... can happen anywhere... Although, it's really neat because from my balcony, when Applebee's park sets off fire-works, I can sit outside and watch them. Sometimes it's a pain if I'm doing something else, to hear them, but eh... not something that can be helped.
Grounds - The landscaping here is nice and simplistic. The grass always looks ok, the trees look healthy, and the flower beds are very pretty.
Construction - I haven't had any problems out of the construction. My sliding screen door sticks from time to time, and... I think that's about it. It's an older building, so you can't expect everything to be perfect, but all in all, there hasn't been any problems on my end.
Maintenance - I haven't personally had anything repaired, but have seen some of the things they've completed in other apartments. Not too shabby, and the maintenance guys are very polite as well.
Staff - Personally, I think the staff is great. The manager makes sure that things get taken care of no matter what, and the younger girl in the office is just as sweet as can be. Both ladies are very helpful and honest.
All in all, I think Paddock isn't a bad place to stay, and I recommend this apartment community.

Paddock Apartments has changed a bit. Since I was there, it was under a new property manager. She came from some place called Sonnet. That's all she can talk about. Hopefully she does not run Paddock into the ground like she talks about where she used to work. It's a shame that the younger girl left. She was very sweet, and helpful. She kept on top of things and she was always out and about on the property talking to everyone. Hopefully the new manager isn't chaning everything. But that's management, I suppose. I know one thing, if too many things change, I'll move!!!
