Nice apartment - questionable staff

Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2007
We've lived here for a year and enjoy our apartment. Our 2 bedroom is quite large. However, the appliances are outdated our microwave 2-3 times as long to heat items and our fridge/freezer does not work well. The ice in our freezer melts and semi-freezes again into a block so we don t feel safe in keeping frozen foods. The oven does not have a window to view baked goods and the dishwasher does not clean well (as well as melted parts inside).
We love all the shrubbery and lawns. Lighting is an issue. We ve reported a broken light 3 TIMES since the end of Sept. (it is now Dec.) and nothing has been done.
The management markets that they have a courtesy officer to patrol the grounds regularly. I was out of town one weekend and my car was broken into Friday night. The window was smashed and the door was left wide open. In the morning, neighbors notified the office of this and asked the office to contact me as I was out of town (I was NOT contacted even though they told my neighbors they would). The neighbors were kind enough to cover and close my car door late Saturday afternoon after no one had come by (you d think maintenance or management would at least want to take a look at it as it looks very bad for business). My car was in a VERY visible space and no officer reported the disturbance the entire weekend (although glass was EVERYWHERE and VERY NOTICABLE). I came home late Sunday evening to a mess outside near my car. Although I am aware it is not their duty to contact the police, I would hope they would at least contact me I would have come home early. Although the courtesy office didn t report anything, my neighbors did, and the apartment management didn t bother to notify me as a courtesy or do ANYTHING.
The office staff does not seem to be altogether caring about their tenants concerns. It took us several tries to simply get the correct name spelling on our bills or to ensure they had our contact numbers. We ve lived here a year now and it can take some time for maintenance to respond to our issues. It does not seem like the office staff communicates well with each other or maintenance. Definitely note the time and name of the person you speak with every time you call or visit them for future reference should you need it.
We can not hear the traffic from Tates Creek or Man O'War though there is a main thoroughfare street that goes from Tates Creek to the neighboring neighborhood this brings outside traffic in and creates some noise (and safety) issues. Sometimes the noise from this traffic can be annoying. It depends on where you choose to live on the complex.
What is important to me is my comfort, surroundings, and safety. So far the surroundings are very nice. My comfort is questionable when it comes to appliances (especially for the amount of rent we pay), and my sense of safety has been shaken up namely because I don t feel the apartment management is truly concerned about the issues that arise around the community.
I am not sure how much longer we will stay. If you move here, stay alert and make sure you track and stay on top of everything when it comes to dealing with the office.
