Let me preface by stating I am aware of the saying: you get what you pay for . With that in mind I originally rented from this property due to the low rent, the location and quick but poor decision making skills. Those are the only two positive things you will read from this review in reference to Pegasus Place Apts.
On the day of moving in, my apartment was still not ready even though a month before moving in we had settled on a date. Once I was told I could go in, the apt. was still dirty and nasty, the carpet wet with a horrid stench, Mexican porn dvds in the closet and dead bugs in the fridge. But due to the settled date, I really had no other choice but to move in.
During the course of my stay, my ceiling leaked an innumerable amount of times. Three of which I reported due to the waterfall I had in my living room and closet. Each time I spoke with the office and maintenance, I was told the problem WAS fixed and there should be no more issues. I understand old structures have issues, but this was ridiculous. I have pictures and video (which I used to show the office manager) of streaming water in both my living room and closet. I called emergency maintenance one night because water was streaming so bad it was coming through the holes I had made for hanging pictures. Once the gentleman got there he stated it was no big deal and said lay a towel down and they will try to fix it when the roof dries. This was the third time it had leaked, and the previous time I was told it was fixed. The following morning I confronted the property manager with pictures I took and reciting what I was told by their maintenance man, and she had the audacity to point out there was no time stamp on the picture. As this was going on, the gentleman who I was making the complaint against was next to me denying he ever said that. She would turn to me after he made a statement and repeat back to me what he said as if I had not heard him. Up till the day I left, the roof was still not fixed and I still had leaks. The people above me had there roof buckle because of the water. The people below had to move apartments because the water drained from my apt. to theirs and also came up through the floor.
Now, just so you know there also is the biggest roach problem I have ever seen. It is ridiculous. I am a pretty clean guy and have a touch of OCD. Order and cleanliness is what I prefer to have. I still had roaches... tons of them. I called to have them spray, I called and made complaints and still nothing ever stopped the roaches.
Trash is always laying in the halls inside the building, outside the building in the parking lot and the walk way.
The laundry facility is horrible. Countless times did the quarter machines eat my money. You have to run your clothes in the dryer twice in order to get them adequately dry. And there is trash everywhere in that place.
From what I was told there is a pool there, but the pool was closed the whole year I lived there.
The office workers switch out exclusively. I don't want to comment on any of them because they may not be there anymore. And I would not want to give any of the possible new workers a bad review considering I may have had no experience with them.
I have watched on two different occasions, a gang of people beat another man to the ground literally right outside my former living room window. I can not even begin to explain how many times I had awoken to police sirens, fire trucks and ambulances, outside in the parking lot. It was almost on a nightly basis. I saw a white van marked Fayette County...etc... Coroner, twice at a building down from me.
During the summer and spring I assume the property overlooks the migrant workers living twelve deep in a one bedroom apartment. I have no problem with really large families or foreign nationalities, but I saw with my own eyes over 15 people living in the apartment above me. I had to ask them to stop playing music and throwing beer bottles from three floors up by my window.
The parking lot floods... really bad.
I had some strange infestation of weird bugs in my fridge. Because of that I could not keep food in there.
It may seem like I am doing a lot of complaining. I'm not. I can not even begin to stress how horrible this place is. I was so embarrassed to have people come over or even pick me up. The quality of living is well below my perception of sufficient. I was not expecting a fabulous place when I moved in. But I did expect the ceiling to keep water out. The walls not to squirt water out. To not live within the proximity of 50 roaches at once.
DONT LIVE HERE!! I rode out my lease, and now feel so much better living where I am today. Just being out of Pegasus Place has taken stress out of my life.
