My husband and I were looking for a nice affordable place to live. When we arrived, we were treated extremely courteously by a professional staff, eager to please. The model apartment they showed us was impeccable with an inside entry that was beautifully decorated. They also seemed very helpful with our situations (both students) and stated that the crime level was low, noise level was low and that six courtesy officers lived there (hello, this should have been a sign!). After filling out the application and paying a holding fee, we decided to drive around to what would be our apartment. The upkeep was horrible, a greasy parking lot with trash strewn throughout the lawn and lot, phallic graffiti drawn on the laundry facilities, and an old rickety outside cement stairwell that led to a poorly lit floor. Seeing this (and the ghetto neighborhood) left us a little shaken but a call to management from my husband and they assured us that it was quiet and well-kept. Luckily for us, we know a cop who works in the area who said "in my professional opinion, no way would I live there" -why not'- because they get calls to those specific apartments between one and four times PER night! No way are we staying there either. We lost our seventy five dollars but that?s quite a deal compared to what we might have had to pay through that year lease!!!!!!
