Recently I was interested in renting a one bedroom apartment at this complex. I took a tour of the facility and was very impressed. I found Pennington Place to be a beautiful place to stay and I was interested and went ahead and submitted my deposit. I thought that the rent price-beauty-and upcoming gate was a deal that I could not pass-up. I knew about the tragedy that happened last fall but was not upset because I thought that those types of things could happen all across Lexington. However I read on various websites that Pennington Place had screwed over past tenants on things such as electric bills. The idea is that in an apartment complex will be something like 10 rooms in a building. They will make the entire complex split up the electric bill and thus ten rooms will split up one bill. This is not a bad idea until one tenant has to pay the entire bill, if the rest of the tenants move out. Thus you can get really outrageous electric bills. Also it is stupid because you may not use much electricity, however, have a neighbor who spends a huge amount of electricity. THEN YOU HAVE TO SPLIT IT! It's just not fare or right. This was what I was confused about so I called the salesperson named "Megan" and asked her to explain this. So I call the number that they put in the 4rent website. Turns out, this is their fax machine number and she was outraged that I called it. I asked her about the confusion and the first thing she said was, "Before I start explaining anything, how did you get this number'" I told her that I got the number from the 4 rent website. She said, "Well don't ever call this number again!" So I asked her if I could call back on another number. She said, "no just finish the question and don't ever call this number." At this point I told her that I read about the shootings-not a huge deal to me- however the electric bill was. She said, we pay for the pool-tennis court-and most of everything else. To me this seems to me like a real shady answer because she simply didn??t answer the question that I asked. Also during conversation she used words such as ??----?? and ??pissed??. She didn??t direct those words to me but I found it very unprofessional and I didn't want to live there anymore. So latter on in the day I went back over to the Pennington Place. I asked for my deposit and her' response (her being Megan) said, "Good! that's just less work that I have to do." What a dumbass statement to say to a customer. She did not have the intelligence to try to convince me into staying at Pennington Place. She just smarted off and thus that lead me to believe other things I had read. That being that the office people were complete jerks.
Afterwards she told me, "Just for future references, only believe 15% of the things you read." Well hell, is not 15% of the stuff you read about this place 15% too much!!!
Once again...I did not rent anything from this place. I was lucky. I strongly suggest that you don't either.

I live here and the office staff has been nothing but professional to me. Megan is a very nice girl and has always been respectful and helpful. You missed out on a great place to live!
