I lived here for a few months when I first moved to Lexington in early 2005. It was rented by a girl who let me rent out a room for cheap, so I took the opportunity. It was pretty decent then...until someone in an apartment above ours left his kids with a lighter and they set the building on fire. We had to stay in a hotel for a night and were not reimbursed by the management. Our apartment had been flooded when the fire was put out, but the management refused to move us to a new unit. We were forced to move back in and it was still decent for a while...until the ceiling caved in one day while I was sitting in the living room. Luckily, our lease ended a few weeks later and we moved out.

Being stupid and cheap, a year later I fell for the $299 student special and decided to move back in after being told by the leasing agents and maintenance staff that everything was being renovated and the complex was a lot better. I figured that the apartment I had lived in before was only crappy because of the fire and that if I got an apartment in another building it would be okay.

OH GOD WAS I WRONG. My "new" apartment was far worse than the one before. There were roaches EVERYWHERE. It took me 1 1/2 years to get rid of all those roaches, even after moving several times. I eventually had to throw away all my electronics because of those damn roaches!

Within the first few weeks, the air conditioner stopped working. After notifying the office many, many times in person, by phone, and even in writing, it was never fixed. When my lease ended the next summer, it was still not working.

There were lots of leaks and mold/mildew growing everywhere!!! It was completely unhealthy and unsafe.

My bath tub was clogged up on several occasions. Also, the facets on the bath would not go off at times, even when I used a wrench. The hot water ran in my bath tub for three days straight because I couldn't get it turned off and the office iqnored my calls. When the steam from the hot water started to mess with the electric wires in the bathroom, I called and told them that this was an emergency situation and that they were breaking the law. At that point, according to Lexington ordiances, I could call a plumber and have them come fix it and bill the apartment complex. I told the office this and they sent someone, but it was still several hours later. They never compensated me for the high water bill that resulted from that.

Eventually, I got fed up and sent a certified letter naming all the maintenance problems that needed to be addressed in my unit and letting them know that I knew my legal rights in the matter. They responded by putting rude notes on my door saying they would take legal action if I didn't pay my rent on time...even though I paid my rent on time every single month.

After six months, I couldn't take it anymore and moved out. I continued to pay my rent there just to save my credit plus the rent for the apartment I was actually living in. That says a lot about how unliveable that place is. I have lived in a lot of not-so-nice apartments and was completely okay with it, but that apartment was ruining my health and sanity. The management didn't care, but I can kind of understand because it would overwhelming to have to management a ---- hole like that.

Hopefully they are tearing this place down because there is no hope for it! DO NOT LIVE AT PENNINGTON PLACE EVEN IF IT CHANGES IT'S NAME AGAIN AND OFFERS YOU THE BEST DEAL YOU'VE EVER HEARD OF. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l
