It's a place to sleep...

Years at this apartment: 2007-01-01 - 2007-01-01
I don't understand a lot of these reviews. Perhaps these people are a little older than I am and looking for a place to think of as 'home' or maybe they are younger and haven't lived out on their own before. I've been living on my own for seven years now and I am a full-time worker and college student. The rent at this apartment complex is a little steep if you own a pet, but I understand the rent increase with pets due to the possibility of damage that a pet can cause. The grounds are nothing like the apartments' grounds in some complexes, however, the rent at those places can be up to $2,000.00 a month (which is even steeper for me).
In living on my own for seven years, I have lived in a few other apartments, a house rental, and several dormitories. Sonnet Cove is quiet in my part of the area. There is on-site security that has responded to all of my requests. Maintenance has come out the day I requested them to each and every time. I have everything I need: hot water, cold water, electricity, internet, working appliances, heat, a/c, plenty of room for all of my things (including a queen sized bed and my cat). I have lived here for just about six months now and I really can't complain. Some of the neighbors that live around here (and we're talking about a minority of them) are a little rough, but most of them appear to be students or more mature folk who seem to pay their rent on time, have nice furnishings, pets of their own, friendly personalities, etc.
I think that if you are trying to be thrifty, but want a good deal, Sonnet Cove is a good deal. I will warn that the carpets are a little dated (but who wouldn't have dated carpet when you allow pets in the complex), the electrical outlets could use some work (but I haven't brought this to the manager's attention yet since I've been so busy), the floors squeak a little (but they're wood), and somtimes you see a spot where the floor has sagged which worried me some, but again, it's been six months and things seems sturdy.
I live on the top floor and don't hear a lot of noise, but I think that it's all about who you live with/around. If your neighbors are rude, you'll hear a lot of foot noise and music. If your neighbors are polite and accomodating, you'll have a better experience.
All in all, this apartment beats a dorm, the rental house, and other apartments I have lived in in the past. It's spacious, I have a nice balcony area where I can put my flowers, my cat loves it here (mostly for the balcony), and the neighborhood and location are excellent (40502 has always been a nice location).
Again, I'm not sure why the people who lived here were disappointed, but I'm thinking maybe they over-reacted just a little... afterall, it's a place to sleep at night... it's not the Ritz, but it's a place to live.
