I was so excited to get my first puppy. That is until I found out that my "pet friendly" apartment complex wanted a $200 non-refundable pet deposit and an additional $200 deposit because she was a puppy. I recently thought about transfering to a bigger apartment but they want another $200 to transfer my lease. This is all in addition to the $629 I put down as a move in deposit. When I moved into my apartment it was filthy. I had to clean it myself and was finally after months of trying to get resolution awarded a $50 concession for my troubles. So far the overall experience has been very disappointing. I will propably move as soon as my lease is up. The overall quality of the apartment is also poor. It seems like something is always broken and I am frankly sick of having my life interupted to have something fixed every week.

You are complaining about a pet deposit? Come on get real! Do you know of ANY apartment complex that doesn't require a pet deposit? At least here you don't have to pay an outrageous monthly pet rent!!
As for your apartment being filthy....I find it hard to believe. Have you read any of the other reviews on here? You might have had to clean a couple of things but having to clean your entire apartment because it was filthy I can't believe it.
Some people are so hard to please no matter what you do.

No a pet deposit is a very common thing but an additional deposit because she is a puppy is what baffled me. Don't get me wrong, I am generally not a person who likes to complain but $400 in addition to the $629 deposit I put down before I moved in = $1029 (that's a lot of money). Actually there was also a problem with the cleaning crew when I moved in. To give you a better idea, every cabinet/cupboard in my kitchen was coated in soot. I found empty "drug" baggies above the cabinets over my sink. For some reason the previous tenant must have stored ash trays or something like that in there. The washer and dryer had never been cleaned out (lots of lint and dirst from previous tenants) as well as lint build up around the hot water heater. The toilet in my bathroom was covered in an orange paste that I could not identify. The toilet had been leaking and the floor was wet. The inside of the drawer in my bathroom was completely coated in small hairs (maybe hair clippers stored there?) There was also a medium sized pool of dried blood under my bathroom sink. I needed to scrub everything before it could be used. In reality I am not hard to please. I contacted the office several times on this issue and was told that someone would call me back. After about a month, 4 phone calls and a letter my issue was resolved. Not that I need to defend myself but my complaints are not overblown. Do I believe that I am the exception rather than the rule, quite possibly. Does it seem like strides are being made to erradicate these issues, yes. I have never had issue with any of the staff here. I think they are all wonderful well intentioned people. I just think that unfortunately I got the bad end of the stick several times which is unfortunately quite upsetting.
