1. MANAGEMENT
When I first moved into 'the village' the management was great, I always had quick responses from the maintenance men (who I had to call weekly) and any questions I had were always answered. After a few months I went to the office to drop off my rent payment and the woman who I knew from the office wasn't there - surprisingly they were under new management and I hadn't been told. The new management never answered the phone, I would call repeatedly all day long and not be able to get through, or have my voicemail's returned.

2. QUALITY
My apartment was ------. The bifold doors on the closets were constantly falling off, as well as my RAILING on the upper level of my balcony (can you say dangerous!') My washer/dryer hookups were constantly leaking, causing the kitchen to smell like mildew and water to build up on the floor. After the new management came I could never get maintenance to address my concerns with this. The upstairs sink was constantly clogged and would never drain even after multiple times being snaked and dran-o'd. The dishwasher never actually cleaned the dishes, just made them dirtier.
Not to mention the THREE DAYS that I went without hot water, and had to call Code Enforcement to finally get them to respond to my complaints.


3. NEIGHBORS
I am a college student, so I enjoy partying every once in a while, but there were constantly parties and cops being called. Not a nice, quiet environment like they make it seem.

Lastly:
4 months after I moved out I received a phone call from a collections agency saying that I owed $1400 to Tates Creek Village. This was the first I had ever heard of it. Even though they had a permanent address on file for me, they had been sending all correspondence to the Kirklevington address, which they KNEW I had moved out of.
They never attempted to call me or my mother (who cosigned), or my roomate, even though they had all of our phone numbers. I spent 4 days cleaning rigorously only to have a $200 charge because 'the kitchen and bathroom had not been cleaned at all'
I paid to rent a carpet shampooer only to be charged $1200 TO REPLACE THE CARPET!!
This is ridiculous. I am currently taking legal action against Tates Creek Village to avoid having to pay this ridiculous amount, but I just want to warn anyone who thinks about moving in here: DON'T DO IT!!

if you spent all that time cleaning the place up, why wouldn't you schedule a move out walk through with the manager? then you could have had it in writing... hmmmm... i'd say you are going to pay the $1400 with or without all that fancy (and expensive) 'legal' action.
