Not the place for you... pricey, poorly insulated, and vindictive property manager

My wife and I have lived in apartments in several different locations for school and work. We are both educated professionals accustomed to dealing with reasonable, responsible, and rational leasing staff management in prior apartment complexes.
The property manager treated us terribly. We were sent a bill, along with many many other leasees, for $50 due to leaving a bag of garbage (that was not even ours!!) outside our apartment door. Many residents would do this, due to the only dumpster on the property being at the front of the apartment complex in the morning. The rest of the maintenance and leasing office staff were generally pleasant, but Paige the property manager was challenging at best to work with.
Upon move out we had our entire deposit taken, and were told that is cost $720.45 to replace the carpet in the apartment that had been cleaned the week before!! This supposedly "pet friendly community" had already charged us $500 in deposits and one time fees for our two dogs and $20 a month per dog!!!!!
We have since purchased a house, but I would not recommend this apartment complex to anyone. There are better value propositions elsewhere!!

as a pet owner this review bothered me. either charge a deposit or charge reasonable pet rent. but not both. that is called gouging.

I'm surprised, being the "educated professional" that you claim to me that you are unable to figure out the pet fee and the trash situation. Allow me to clarify:
A pet fee is an indication that you are a responsible pet owner. If you are willing to pay both a deposit and a monthly fee, you probably take excellent care of your pet and accordingly, your home. That's the point.
As for the trash, would a dumpster every 50 feet be preferable? I love that we have one dumpster up at the front where don't have to look at it or smell it every time I step outside. Here's what we do: we round up the trash, bag it up and set it at the door (inside). Then we take it with us when we leave and drop it off on our way out. It's a good plan. I don't set trash outside my door. And I don't want to see it from my neighbors either.
Businesses operate as they do for a reason. Sometimes their practices are not exactly how you would like it to be. Rather they are constructed for the greater good. That's difficult for some people to grasp, but if we just take a minute to think it through, it's often easy to see the logic.
