DO NOT MOVE HERE! non-stop maintenance problems

We moved in in March 2007 and have had non-stop problems ever since. The apartments have not been maintained AT ALL and are falling apart. What started as a water leak in the utility closet when we first moved in turned into a much larger problem because maintenance would never come fix it. Black mold grew up the wall in the utility closet, the ceiling caved in, the ceiling over the hallway started leaking, our carpet was constantly wet, the ceiling bowed down over the hallway like it was caving in as well. Roaches came because of the dampness. All the while the office staff and maintenance did not show any real concern or effort to fix the problems. We finally demanded to meet with the manager. Her response was to pull out a 2 inch thick stack of their current maintenance requests in an effort to basically say we needed to get over it because we weren't the only ones with problems (when really she just proved how horrible these apartments are). They finally sort of patched the ceiling but it still is messed up and bowed and the paint is different colors, and they refused to replace the moldy carpet. We still have a horrible roach problem and, though we have requested pest control numerous times, they have never come out to do anything about it. We also have other problems, sewage has backed up through our kitchen sink and flooded our kitchen twice, our patio door is missing a handle, our air conditioner/heater make clanking noises (and have broken more than a couple times). The apartments are also horribly insulated and the windows are drafty: you can feel a cold breeze coming in around the window. The exercise equipment in exercise room is mostly broken and they closed the pool in the middle of the summer. The office staff are very fake and do not care at all about the tenants. They lie to you constantly. The apartments are extremely overpriced and have horrific problems that will only continue to get worse as they get older and the maintenance continues to do nothing about the problems.

Amen! I'm getting out of this hell hole at the end of the month, largely because that b**ch of a manager decided not to renew my lease and to give me no reason for said decision. Get out while you can!

If you love living here, anonymous, then you are one of the very few. Count yourself lucky that you have not had your home invaded with ants, toxic MOLD, sewage problems, things that never got fixed that you were told would be, high utilities because of unfixed problems, MOLD MOLD MOLD, and electrical outlets that have had sparks shooting out of them. That's the short list. Don't wrongly assume that those writing these reviews are evictees or those not paying their rent or making loud noises. We have a growing family, respect our neighbors, always pay our rent on time, and simply want a SAFE and HEALTHY place for our children that we should already be getting.
Again, count yourself fortunate, PLEASE.

Listen, if you like Jamestown good for you. If you dont like Jamestown, then I am sorry for you. Mostly, life is what you make it. If you can prove that there is a health risk in your apartment, then call the Health Department or the Housing Authority of Louisville. If they find the apartment as you say it is, THEY will void your lease for you, so you dont have to wait until your lease is up. I would be willing to bet that most of these people will have a bad experience almost anywhere they live, just because they are a generally negative people. If this offends you, then you are the ones I am talking about. If your place is so unsafe for your precious little family, I would think you would have called the city by now to step in, not just whine about it on apartments.com. If you are that bored get a second job, fly a kite, pet a dog or do something. Just quit bitching!
On a personal note, it has gotten kinda "dark" around Jamestown..... Maybe they accept Section 8 now!
