Even though there is new management, anderson communities, they are even worse. My husband, I , and our one month old son are homeless for two weeks due to this place and crazy neighbors! Our next door neighbor had a meth lab explode less than ten feet from our apartment. The leasing staff is trying to say it is okay to have our son in there breathing the fumes! Yeah right! Now we have to move, and professionally clean all of our belongings. And this was just the last straw. Before this event August 19th, 2008. We have called the cops on this guy many times, after calling the apartment's "emergancy" line. The line takes you to someone in Lexington who can never do anything to help. We would have been fine to just plain move but after our apartment being set fire to that morning they said if we moved out they would sue us for breaking the lease! DO NOT MOVE IN HERE. Unless you do not care about your children, yourself, or health and wellbeing.

The comments posted above are false and slanderous. Our community has certified copies of the Health Department Certificates and Police Reports stating Park Lake has been cleared by the states health and safety department. The police and health departments have also certified we have taken all the necessary steps to ensure our residents safety. Our quick response to the tragedy itself warrants a higher attention to detail and personal service. It is in our best interest to ensure all residents and staff that the conditions of Park Lake are stable, secure, safe and clean. The incident that occured was completely out of the staffs hands and is unfortunate; our condonlences go to the family members involved in this incident. Copies of the reports are at the management office. This personal attack on the community can be summarized as a resident that is obviously trying to break their lease. Criminal background checks and credit scanning is a common practice for this community and was done prior to this incident happening. In life, circumstance and tragedies happen every day and as much as we would like to try and control everything....sometimes accidents that are unfortunate happen. We can take owner ship in our responses and our behavior during such times. The statements above are accusations and not actual facts. For additional information please contact our management office.

Yeah okay we were never home and always quiet and tried to be considerate of our neighbors. If wanting a safe place to live makes me the freak then so be it. This person cannot even give their name or anything, real mature. (Rolls eyes). We are so glad to be done with this place!

I live at Park Lake apts & I saw the fire trucks that morning & read the courier journal that day that declared that fire started from a meth lab. The dumpster area is filthy, they never clean the hall/stairways, the noise level is terrible at all hours even the middle of the night, this is a good place to live if your a drug addict but if you have kids or like sleep at night, don't move here.

I have to agree with some of the items in this review, HOWEVER, not all of it. Lake in the Woods, has a bad reputation...It always will. No owner of ANY company can come in and remodel, redo, or completly tear down and rebuild to make the ghetto into Manhattan. (Which is what the owner of this company has tried to do.) The construction is horrible. There are splatches of drywall mud all over the walls, where there should be none. The breezeways should have been enclosed to keep the bugs and dirty grime out. I suggested several times that doors be put up, but the manager (which is no longer there) said that the owner refused, said that if a decent breezeway cleaner was hired it would take care of it...WELL IT DIDN'T. I see the cleaner out here almost every day and the bugs still come in. Its NATURE, the property is next to a lake. The compactor area is a complete DUMP (no pun intended) because the owner got a cheap compactor with a side enterance instead of one that had an opening in the top. (Not to mention they expect the residents to slide their trash in with a rake or shovel!!!) I want to say that they let "everyone in", however, I do believe that they keep to their stadards as to credit and criminal checks. Meth heads and pot heads and crack heads, whores and alcoholics can all have good credit and no prior criminal history.
I lived there for almost 2 years...not the smartest decision, but when the new manager came in she was able to talk us into staying, saying it would be better, and it did get better for a while, the clubhouse opened up and the breezeways didn't stink(they were still bug infested, but didn't smell) Then that manager left and so did we. Looks like to me we all made a good decision.
As far as the whole moving because of the meth lab and being homeless...I have to agree with the office staff on that. Before anyone can live in that building, the health department has to sign off saying that it is a safe place to live. If the office staff indeed has the paperwork from the health department then you would be okay staying there. HOWEVER, I would not want to. Just knowing that a meth lab was next door would freak me out and I wouldn't want to live in at a place where there were meth labs. BUT you also have to realize that meth is a large problem everywhere now. There have been meth labs found in every area of Jefferson County. The North (IN), East, West and the South. You can't always tell who is going to cook meth and who isn't going to. Its just like weed...do you know how many of your friends smoke it? Only weed doesn't blow up and weed doesn't rot your teeth or kill you...it just slowly kills brain cells. I don't blame you for wanting to get out of your lease, a meth lab blew up next door to you, but I don't think you can blame the Office Staff for this event happening. On a side note, is cowgirl your real name. You said you used your real name, thats a joke, if your are going to post something and say you used your real name, then use your REAL name, not just your email address name, that the same as posting anonymously! (Thats a really big pet peeve of mine!)
My advise to anyone looking to move to Park Lake...DON'T DO IT!!! The problems you will encounter are to many.

My daughter lives there and I am beyond disgusted. The halls are filthy and there has been a broken railing in her building for over a year which has been reported on SEVERAL occasions. My younger son fell down those stairs because of that broken rail and this was reported months ago by me personally and STILL it's not fixed.
Her dishwasher was broken for weeks with no response, her front door lock was broken and she could not secure her apartment for almost 3 weeks with promises from the manager there that the situation would be resolved quickly.
There is always garbage around the dumpsters and the property is looking horrible. I am trying to encourage her to move from there into someplace decent. If the problems don't get fixed soon I'm going to call the health department.
