A little on the back story...
In August we wrote a letter with a list of maintenance issues that had not been fixed (after repeated calls, office visits and NUMEROUS work orders that had "supposedly" been written): broken window locks, mice, bathroom floor pulling up and getting wet, leaking faucet (which we fixed ourselves). Fast forward a couple of months and still no progress, fast forward a few more months (now its cold out) still no progress plus by now we had asked for new windows because we could fly a kite in the living room from the draft and they still didnt lock (but hey at least they put thumb locks on them, which is great incase there is ever a fire it just makes it that much more difficalt to get out of the window).
Today after many phone calls and empty promises to fix everything, the corporate manager (Graystar) from TX was in town to look at the complex. She meet with my wife in our apt with the site manager and the maintance manager to discuss the fact that we were promised new windows and to at least have the carpet cleaned, bathroom floor fixed and to do something about the mice problem. The corporate manager said they (Graystar) were not going to do anything about the windows, because windows leak (and get water/condensation between the window panes) and using thumb clamps on windows to get them to lock is fine. They would clean the carpet and fix the bathroom floor "If we wanted them to". Lets just say things got heated by this point and she was told to leave our apt.
Here's the good part for us!!!
They will let us out of our lease renewal which doesn't start til next month anyway, probably hoping they will not have to fix anything and just release it as is to the next sucker that comes along.
