Terrible neighbors and drugs

I lived there for a year and put up with nothing but noise, fires, and drug activity from my revolving door of neighbors. The office personnel would not let me out of my lease and I was just told with my last neighbors that "they can't discuss it, but had the police looking into it." The office staff wanted me to take legal action against my neighbors, which I refused to do, because I was scared to death of retaliation. Several times when I came home my neighbors had been smoking marijuana, and it traveled through the vents into my apartment and my whole place (and clothes) would reek of weed. Also, the utilities were a joke. I paid an LG&E bill and the extra $100 that was tacked on to the rent. Basically, there are many other apartments around the area. Do not make a mistake like me!

While I agree the apartments are really old and nasty.
But weed coming through the vents and smelling your whole apartment and clothes up? Now come on!
As someone who partakes occasionally myself I know for a fact weed just doesn't settle and linger like that, they were smoking cigars, clove cigarettes, or maybe even herbal cigarettes but not weed, it is something you may smell for a few minutes maybe even long as an hour if a lot is being smoked. Then the smell just dissipates.
It contains quite a few less toxins than commercial tobacco even if the temporary aroma is less than pleasing.

The police confirmed it. I am posting about my own experiences there to let others make an informed decision about leasing there. Please don't post comments with your own speculation, since you were not present. Every bit is true.

While I never had a problem with my neighbors at Plainview (other than people never seem to pick up after their pets - which is gross), I can comment about the ridiculous utility bills. My most expensive LG&E bill there was $20. However the Ista bill (which included gas, water, trash and sewage) was astronomical. In the winter, it was around $120/mo or worse. In the summer, the least expensive I remember it was $60 something. And I have no idea why it would be that much in the summer. I'd say the water heater maybe, but then we were out of electric during the storms last year I didn't have hot water either, so I have to assume the water heater's electric. So where did $60 in gas come from during the summer? I don't know, but I'm glad to be the heck out of there. I refuse to rent from anywhere with gas utilities going forward. Plainview was my worst rental experience ever. I'm happy to be gone.

I am curious about the "fire" you mentioned... we have heard a lot about Plainview having a lot of fires. Is this what you mean? Does this complex catch fire a lot?

I lived in Plainview for 3 years. I left after my lease was up AFTER my building caught fire. They refused to break the lease after the fire. I was put in another unit for 3 months which I could not live in since all my property was lost. Plainview has had 3 fires in about 3 years give or take. The ISTA bill he referrs to is a joke. I complained about it since we did not use much heat our first winter there. I was told that there is 1 bill for the entire building and that bill is divided up by the number of tennants and the total sq. ft. of each unit. So even if you did not run your gas furnace, you would still get charges a huge bill (especially in the winter)
