I've been here at River Hill Apartments for 2 lease period (2 years) and I hate to say it, but I am not sad to go.

Parking: Parking is a pain in the ass if you get home anytime after 9pm. Many times I have had to park in the next lot over and walk between buildings to get home (which was a safety concern). This is not unusual though, seeing as I live in one of the "lots" that has the smallest amount of parking.

Noise: These walls are paper thin. You can hear everything and anything your neighbors are doing (including in the bedroom). TV's don't have to be loud, just a normal volume, walking around sounds like a child is throwing a temper tantrum and stomping on the ground, etc. The community itself is pretty quiet, seeing how there are many children around. I live right by a pool and don't hear much.

Grounds: Last fall after the wind storm they hired a company to come out and cut down all the branches (it's a foresty-type area), which made the place look like crap. Bushes are often overgrown, and for some reason someone thought it would be a good idea to plant a bush that had THORNS right outside our walkway on both sides. That bush is often overgrown and you often come out of your apartment building to get scratches and deep cuts. I have asked management to remove this bush completely but they never responded.

Safety: Safety is an issue. I once woke up in the middle of the night to a loud noise outside in the hallway. I was groggy and didn't bother to get out of bed. The next morning leaving for work, I realized the doorknob/lock on the front of my building had been heavily tampered with. It was almost falling off of the door. I immediately called the office and they blew it off and said: "Many people who forget their keys try to get in by picking the lock". Someone was trying to break in and it looked like their was a crowbar used in the attempt.
On numerous occasions I have seen the police here. Whether it was for noise, violent crime (once they were called about a gunshot that could be heard 3 blocks away), domestic violence...etc, they were often here patrolling. Once while I was walking my dog, just before twilight, I was asked by two officers if I had seen a suspicious looking man and when I said no, they walked off to go hunting in the bushes. Needless to say, I walked straight home and didn't leave until morning.

Construction: Ugh. You can tell where the have patched up large holes in the walls and doors. Mold covers my windowsill outside and is beginning to creep in. My bathroom tiles behind the toilet have raised up and now have a bright green border around them. The stove is old and kitchen is VERY outdated. No sound OR heat insulation, you'll be paying out of these world electric bills for an apartment. They did finally give each individual apartment their own AC/Heat unit - brand new in 2008 (although that construction took 2-3 months in my apartment alone). Horrible carpet, it's navy blue - everything shows up and if it is "brand new" it will stain your socks. Overall Rating: 1 out of 5

Maintenance: Maintenance USUALLY comes the next day, if they bother to take your message in the office and put in a ticket. Often they will temporarily fix the issue and must be called back numerous times for the same thing. However, the guys are very nice, not rude at all, and will explain what they did and what exactly was wrong. I did have an issue with the "electricians" who came to fix the wires in my wall in my bedroom. They took off the plates to the sockets and knocked part of the wall off around the hole (one each one 4-5) and never offered to fix it. So now my light socket plates look like their falling off of the wall because there is nothing for them to screw into. They also leave muddy footprint everywhere. Carpet, bathtubs, tiles - wherever they're working.

Staff: I, honestly, have not had too many situations where I have come directly in contact with the staff. There is one very rude and nasty person in the office, but I do not know her name. The others all seem very nice and willing to help.
