My sister got a divorce about 2 years ago and I decided to move to Louisville and get an apartment with her. We looked at a LOT of apartments (she is very picky - would walk out of some after only seeing one room)... this was of only two she approved of (I forget the other). I've lived here almost two years now and I'll be hard pressed to find one negative thing that I think every good review needs. I think my sister noticed that the carpet in the back corner of one closet was peeled back a little in their model. That was the only problem she could find (and like I said she's good at finding problems).
First, the positive.
The office staff is amazing. Always friendly and helpful. Sarah (the property manager) and Carrie have been here since we moved in. I've read other reviews where management changes all the time. This place is not like that. You deal with the same people day in day out. Just today I asked about sending a fax to a toll free number and they said no problem. Last year they photo copied some speeding tickets I'd gotten so I could mail them to a lawyer. I've gotten a reminder call the morning AFTER my rent was 5 days late (the grace period) and I took care if it that morning before they ran the checks and NO late fee.
The office was also helpful in facilitating getting the apartment painted in a custom color scheme (almost a match to their model) and having it ready before we moved in, even though they weren't doing the work themselves.
The maintenance staff is good. They respond quickly (almost always same day) to any minor issues I've had. They also change light bulbs and such which is nice because the ceiling is 9ft high... hard to get to without a ladder or standing on things you probably shouldn't be. Once I was going on a trip with a friend and locked my keys in my trunk at 8am. Yeah, stupid. I called the office and left a message and was back in my apartment with a spare set of keys about 15 minutes later. Steve the head maintenance guy is great. Other guys are good but not as bubbly or outgoing as office staff.
There seem to always be a few extra places of parking no matter what time of day it is. And your girlfriend's car won't get towed if she spends the night. (happened to a friend at a different community)... It certainly seems very safe here. I've never had a problem, never seen suspicious behavior or people. It's nice that the apartments all have doors to each building... so it takes two keys to get in... makes things that much safer. Grounds only got a 4 because they are nice but I never think about them.
I have only two negative things I can think of. I wish it hadn't taken a year for me to ask (and them research) that I could get a tiny keychain garage opener instead of the large visor mounted one that I got 2 for free with my monthly garage. Yeah not really anyone's fault but would have made my life a lot easier for that year. And sometimes I go to the office and they are out of cookies... that's always really disappointing.
Sorry, I couldn't think of any serious negatives. It's great. I cant imagine moving unless I left Louisville.
