Complaints about Shadow Ridge

I have lived in Shadow Ridge for 1.5 years and had problems with the administration staff in regards to the noise level. The insulation is so poor here that I can hear the man next door urinating in his bathroom. I contacted the manager about the possibility of the need for more insulation in the walls, and was basically laughed at. I currently live on the second floor and my fiance and I have repeatedly been complained on by the neighbors below for "walking too loudly". My fiance weighs slightly over 200lbs and I hate to imagine the possibility that he is being harrassed because of his weight. The office has told us to "walk more quieter" and to make our 2 five year olds and 2 year old stop running. The office immediately took our neighbors? side without investigating the possiblity of loose floor boards or insulation problems. As a result we have had to secure a Tenant Attorney to protect us from being evicted because of the "daily living" complaints. We have never received a complaint for noisy tv, stereo or partying. Only "daily living" complaints, dropping things, etc.
The insulation is so poor that we can hear the people that live above us walking around as well. However, we opt not to complain because we understand that when you live in an apartment you should expect to hear walking noise, thumps and bumps. We have no desire to put others through what we have been through.
It is my hope that the reason for the increased complaints from our downstair neighbors and lack of cooperation from the managers has nothing to do with the fact that we are an interracial couple.
We, unfortunately have to live in this complex until the first of the year. I do not recommend anyone who has children or "walks heavy" to look into this complex for residency.
I am very disappointed at the professionalism with this complex. They have violated our privacy rights as well as admitting to doing so. My suggestion to anyone looking into this rental facility is RENT AT YOUR OWN RISK.

I completely disagree with you. As a person who is going through what your downstairs neighbors are experiencing, you should be courteous and try to make as little noise as possible. I, too, have a child who lives above me and runs around all the time--sometimes for hours. How you like to be someone who's just come home from work only to have NO peace until you're ready for bed? To make matters worse, the people above me will stomp the floor in one place for a long time because they are angry that I complained about them. If you have children, you shouldn't live above other people if you're not going to make them behave. You don't have all the liberties in an apartment you would have in a house.

Some people don't have the luxury of owning a house either...and you should take that into consideration. Just as people with children should maybe try to get a 1st floor apartment to cut down on that noise, child-less tenants should try to get a 2nd or 3rd floor to keep themselves happy. Can't we all just get along? You people are worse than children!
