After reading the previous review, it is very obvious to me who it was written by. Unfortunately there are those who need to lash out at others to make themselves feel better because they no longer have their job.

I live in Illinois and have not seen your apartments, but the fact that you are the manager and are threatening your tenants on this website with the words 'slander' and 'expenseive' makes me very sure that I would never want to rent from you. That is unprofessional behavior not to mention unchristian. Instead of trying to be the better person you're lowering yourself to their level. Thank you for making it so easy to overlook your establishment in the future. |

It is against the law to purposely advertise false negative information on a public format such as the internet. That is "Slander". Personally and professionally. It was not a resident it was a previous employee that had been fired and had attempted to cause problems and appear as a resident, this person had also caused a lot of liability for the property. It was a "messege" to her, not a "threat" that if she continued that is what the consequences would be. I am sorry you would judge the community and myself based on those comments. It is always best to find out the whole story instead of believing what you read or hear. Good luck to you and thanks for your response.

I'm in the market for a new apartment, so I've looked at a LOT of ads and ratings over the past few weeks. I have to agree with Shananagann on this one. I know enough to look past the occassional bad review as it may be just someone who, like you claim, may be trying to take revenge for an actual or perceived bad experience. The fact that you have engaged here strikes me as being very unprofessional, and then to have continued after being called on it by an outside party makes it even worse. If you really have an issue with a former employee you should conduct your arguments with that person somewhere other than a public forum; it's detrimental to your business image. Such conduct gives me the feeling that Southgate management is petty and argumentative; not something I want to have to deal with where I live. It's a shame, too, because you're located in my favorite part of town. I will be continuing my search, but Southgate is no longer on my list.

I understand both of the responses from the readers but I agree with the manager. That employee happened to be causing a lot of havoc everywhere and the manager just thought that by making the one comment, it would deter her from continuing and everyone could go on. Southgate is a wonderful community and you should give it a chance without the influence of this venue. Use your own judgement and you will see it is actually a great place to live and you would love calling it home! I just thought you might like to hear from someone else and their view on the subject too. Thank you for listening.

I just happened upon this forum because I am considering renting at Southgate. I really don't think the manager's response was inappropriate. It actually kindof helped me understand what is going on. So, I say, THANKS for clearning things up.
