yes, the location is great. fast, easy access to all you need and want. the apartment itself is georgeous. i rented a 3rd floor unit for the extra floor space and vaulted ceilings. you simply will not find an apartment with bigger bathrooms. however....as mentioned by previous residents, the staff leaves much to be desired. when i first began my lease the property was run by a completely different group of ppl. it is my understanding that within the 13 months that i leased there they sold the property and it was taken over by another group of ppl all together. i am not positive that this is the truth but the office staff did change. the maintenance crew also changed. this is the time that i started noticing that the grounds were starting to look bad. there was a period of about 5 or 6 weeks that someone had spilled a red slushy in the stairwell of my building and just sat there. there was noticibly more trash through out the property and i did indeed experience difficulty getting the maintenance staff to fix things for me when i needed them to. the tennis courts had chains on the gates so nobody was able to use them, the lifeguards hours got cut back so we had less time to spend at the pool with our families. this was very upsetting as the ameneties are a big part of the reason i decided to lease there. the staff is notorious....NOTORIOUS for leaving the property/office and closing up shop before the end of their posted business hours which is frustrating for ppl like me who work until 5, rush to get to the office at 545 and they are already locked up and all the lights are out. i have noticed that there is a younger crew running things and they seem to have a lot of time to sit around and hang out when the property is looking trashy....
there are some things that are not the staff's fault like there is a serious parking problem. if you dont get home before 10pm good luck finding a parking spot. and the genious who decided that the best place for the dumpster was right next to she swimming pool so that you can enjoy the smell of hot garbage while relaxing by the pool shoud be shot.
my experience with southgate was not the best, i was glad to be moving out, and i would recommend you consider other options before you sign that 13 month lease (cause you get a free one). they are real fake ppl in that office who could care less about you as a person, they just want to get their paychecks and go home. i am not, nor have ever been an employee of the property so dont send me any of your threats. this forum was created for ppl to express their opinions and voice their conserns. i'm sorry if any of their staff takes offense to anything that i have said but honestly, i hope they are professional and business minded enuff that they will take the things that have been said to heart and see their opportunities for improvment so that they can improve the way they do busiess. i reside in this area of town and the last thing i want to see is another appartment complex turned ghetto and full of riff-raff. a big reason why i love this part of town is that it's actually a part of louisville that is still a nice area with everything you need and still away from the hustle and bustle.
southgate could be one of the best apartment complexes around. they just need to get their stuff back together and operate their business a little more professionally. there are a lot of ppl paying a lot of $$ to live there.
