The ghetto is better.

I would rather gargle diarrhea than live in Barkley Ridge Apartments again. I have had nothing but problems with this complex. My refridgerator went out on me one summer and that was a total nightmare. My food wasn t keeping cold and was literally rotting. I called the complex to have someone look at it. Before the maintenance people came over, I cleared out any frost in the freezer so they could look into the problem a little bit easier. All they did was claim to have cleared out some frost (which I already cleared out) and then TURNED THE FRIDGE SETTINGS DOWN! Why on Earth would you turn the refridgerator down if it s already not keeping things cold' I lost about $150.00 in food. I asked if I could have a fridge from a vacant apartment. They said no.
On a separate occasion, my toilet wouldn t flush. They did come over and look at it, but after a few hours, they literally gave up and never offered to move me to another unit. Imagine living in an apartment without a functioning toilet. Fortunately, I figured out that the cleaner that I was using was making a lot of bubbles in the water and causing it to not flush very well. Thank goodness I didn t have to rely on the maintenance staff or I d be peeing in the woods with the animals.
About the apartment itself, ghetto is too nice of a word. There are numerous stains on the carpet, there are dents in the wall, and the living room window is so fogged up with something, you can t even see out of it. The painters painted over the dirt before I moved in and even painted over a bug on the wall. The faucets in the bathroom are so corroded that they are in danger of falling off and they drip constantly. The bathtub has permanent stains in it and I ve tried everything short of a jackhammer to get it clean. This complex is filled with trashy redneck drunks that are making noise at all hours of the night and have little qualms about throwing trash in the hallways and the parking lot. I am surprised that there isn t a roach problem. On several occasions, the garbage man wouldn t empty the dumpster and garbage piled up in the parking lot for almost two weeks. (This wasn t because of snow or something. I suspect that the complex just didn t pay the trash bill.) There are cigarette butts everywhere and one even caused a small fire. The landscaping is horrible. Half of the trees are dead and could possibly fall on the building (again). One shrub is planted so it grows over the path into the building. Talk about lazy. The mailboxes are trashed and anyone could easily get in your mailbox. A bunch of young punks once trashed the exit signs and sprayed the fire extinguisher everywhere in the hall and even shot the place up with paintballs. One day, I heard a fight in the hall and discovered the hallway was COVERED in blood the next morning. The maintenance people reek of booze and never answer the emergency line.
If this isn t enough to make you rent somewhere else, I don t know what is. This place WILL NOT spend one dime on maintenance or upkeep. You d do better to find a cardboard box and sleep under a bridge.
