If you read good reviews, it is probably management wiriting it.

I waited a while to post this in order to give it a fair review. There are strong points to The Farm but there are some real pitfalls too. "The Good" Plenty of closet space, apartments are clean, nice use of space, quick commute to Cincinnati. "The Bad" The "Maintenance Crew" is a husband and wife duo who don't seem to know a whole heck of a lot about anything. For example, my report of an overheating dryer netted a "look in the exhaust pipe." My clothes were then toasted. This wouldn't have happened if they had taken time to "look at the dryer" as I had requested. If the crew would spend more time maintaining the place and less time dumpster diving Monday mornings, we would have all been a bit happier. Still, they got around to making most repairs and most other things seemed to work well (sans the floor tiles that keep popping up). No big deal though. "The Ugly" Mary the manager. She does seem eager to keep tenets pleased. I would go as far as to say I believe she is a lying, manipulative piece of work. She is not trustworthy, my opinion. At the end of my lease, she "lost" my paperwork and "forgot" my verbal desire to move out. As a result, she and CMC (ownership) managed to stiff me for an extra $1500.00. Nice! "Overall" The apartments are fairly nice. Too bad the staff is worthless. You can do much better. Beware of CMC properties.

I totally disagree with the allegations made in the authors post. My family and I lived at "The Farm at Taylor Mill" for more than four years and we did not experience any of the problems this author did. We were extremely please with our apartment and liked all of the staff members there. As far as your problem upon leaving, I would say that you should place the blame directly on the person you look at in the mirror. Do not blame Mary for loosing your paperwork, you should have kept a copy. Secondly, a verbal agreement is fine as long as it was witnessed. If it were not, then you should have had it in writing. Seems to me that your entire complaint centers around you having to pay an extra $1500 to terminate your lease, rather than about anything else. I would strongly recommend this complex.

I absolutely agree and had the same experiences when I lived at The Farm. I also was cheated out of $1500.00 by CMC when I moved out, plus they came after more money for vent cleaning or something long after we'd moved out. Nice apartments but zero customer service. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.

This reviewer and the 03/11/08 response have obviously had life 'delivered on a...' not silver, but 'solid gold platter'.
Regarding the refund of your deposit - either this is the first apartment you have ever rented - or you have been living in some alternate universe (obviously one in which no one is expected to take responsibility for themselves or their actions - all air spun pink sugar candy, and about as exciting).
I have lived on my own since I was 19 (in 1991) and have lived in apartments running the gambit of ghetto-slum to high-end gated communities. Always, always, always - without exception - you must provide WRITTEN notice (no exceptions; no get out of jail free card; do not pass GO... I think you get my gist) at LEAST 30 days PRIOR ('prior' means before) to moving out or the expiration of your rental/lease agreement. More often, WRITTEN NOTICE is required 45 or even (now this will blow your conception of how the world works) 60 DAYS before your rental/lease agreement expires. If you fail to comply - you have just forfeited your deposit. Take a life lesson - maybe you'll become a happier and less selfish person if you do.
