Not a horrible place but there are better

The lofts are not a bad place to live, but you could do so much better!
The apartments are not well insulated, cold air comes in from everywhere especially the patio doors, we were told there was nothing that could be done to prevent the air from coming in. There are no washer and dryer hook ups so you must use the one in the building that are always in use and the lights are always burnt out. Plus you have to use a laundry card and the machine only accepts 10's and 20's. You cannot use quarters and if you only have one load you are out of luck and have to waste more money. You will hear every door shut or slam in your building(in ours it was slam most of the time). The carpet is cheap and stains very very easily, even if you vacume it never looks clean. There is little storage space especially if you have kids. The area is going downhill (3 bodies found by Anderson Ferry in the last couple months) My bike was stolen right from the rack in front of our building. My car was keyed back in the spring. People drive their cars too fast with their stereos blasting late into the night. The good maintnance guy left. The guy at the front office really doesn't give a damn what goes on, and doesn't really care what his tenants have to say or complain about. We tried to do a lease transfer to another property and he wouldn't even look into it, so now we will not rent from Drees every again thanks to his unwillingness to help. We were taken over by Nexus propety management, and were never told. The lighting in the parking lot is not very bright, and you have to look at nasty dumpsters. The paint is cheap and will mark with the slightest touch, there is paint on the carpet lining the floorboards from so many botched paint jobs. The building landings are never cleaned and there are dead flies on the windowsills and floor in the summer. (also on top of the mailboxes). Neighbors leave trash and packages on the landing for days sometimes before taking it in..complained with no avail.. The young couples are treated differently by management and neighbors.Bottom line. you could do better for what you pay we are moving and spending less than $100 more a month for a place with 1,056 square feet 2 walk in closets a washer and dryer hook up that is much newer and nicer than the lofts.
The lofs have good things too:
- Cheap rent
- Pet friendly
- Nice landscaping
- Convenient location
- Newer appliances
