Again, you get what you pay for, but I'd say $700 goes much farther than this, even these days. I live in the front, where the parking is fine, but I face Brightside Dr. and the 30-year old windows and doors don't really provide much acoustic resistance to the noise from the passing cars, or the wind or even rain, for that matter. The first month we lived here, every time it rained I had to sop up water coming in between the door and threshold, and every time the wind blew, you could feel it in your apartment. With hot Louisiana summers, look at paying at least $150/mo along with your rent for energy if you even think of turning your A/C on. I myself went to home depot and spent about $30 on weatherstripping, because AzPt wouldn't come to fix any of my problems.
The place is a fire waiting to happen. Back in the '70's when this place was built, electrical codes were different. Just about any time we cook, a breaker ends up getting flipped, which apparently is connected to my bedroom as well. My roomate's room had serious electrical problems in his room when the power would just, for no reason whatsoever, go out. He ended up missing a couple classes when his alarm didn't go off, and now uses his phone. The maintenance guys (who are very nice, but half-ass everything) came and replaced the receptacles in his room, and the problem stopped, but they gave no reason as to why that could or would happen, and the problem was never fixed.
Parking is horrible, hopefully you don't have any friends, or you'll have to go to their place, because they can't get a guest parking spot. Towing people here are nazis, I've witnessed towing of 3 cars on a Tuesday at lunchtime.
The management seems to get a new girl every time you go in there, honestly I've never seen the same one twice, except for connie, who is the head manager. Connie is a real piece of work... She takes her job far too seriously, and feels the need to blow up little issues into monumental life-threatening ones. It isn't worth talking to her for anything, because she treats you like a child.
My maintenance issues were a nightmare. We have a serious mold problem here in building 16, mainly because the drain to my tub came off, and poured water into the walls. My utility closet's floor is rotting out, causing the washer to be off balance. The stairs/front patio is splinter-city.
There really isn't much to say that's good about this place. I wouldn't even quite say that you get what you pay for.
