I recently moved to Cobblestone at Essen. I was shown the renovated 2 bedroom 1 bath show apartment which cost $940. The management told me that after each tenant moves out, they will renovate the entire apartment, new carpet, new tile, fresh paint, new blinds, and new fixtures the whole 9 yards. My original move in date was set for a Wednesday because of personal circumstances I decided to move in that following Saturday. I arrived at the leasing office and the manager told me to wait for one hour to move in so the maid could finish cleaning. When I walked into the apartment it was dirty. It looked like the previous tenants moved out the day before and I moved in the following day. The presentation was disappointing all of the details were poorly executed.

I wrote a three page letter of maintenance problems. First of all, the stove was smoking. The management did not equip me with a fire extinguisher or fire alarm. That was a dangers problem. The walls were not freshly painted. The toilet tissue holder was held together with glue, which fell apart the same day. They didn t even furnish me with new keys. The tub was disgusting, the management was supposed to re- surface the tub before I moved in. I can t use the tub for 2 days when they re-surface it. During their remodeling they said they will change out the carpet, that didn t happen. The carpet was filthy and ripped up. They said the professional carpet cleaner used a dirty filter. That is not an excuse. People are in my apartment while I m at school. Repairing my apartment that should have gotten taken cared of before I moved in. And the list goes on. They inconvenienced me terribly.

The same thing happened to me. My apartment was renovated when I moved in, but it was done very poorly. The carpet wasn't attached properly, kitchen floor was crooked, paint was on the carpet, towel rack fell off the first day I tried to use it, just to name a few things. The manager said that they would come to fix everyting in the next 48 hours (just like in the message above) and never did.

Very very similar situation happened to me almost a year ago. I went through hell trying to get everything fixed. Though these things should have never been a problem, I would suggest sticking it out because everything will get fixed and once it does, the apartment is by far one of the nicest ones I have seen in Baton Rouge with prime location. Management changed hands recently and she new girl is very sweet and trying very hard. Now that many of the renovated apartments have been lived in for a year, many new comers to the complex will be very lucky and most problems will already be dealt with!

The SAME thing happened to us when we lived there. We had to call for the air conditioner almost like clock work EVERY MONTH! It wouldnt run, or if it did run the freon was out & needed to be refilled. When we moved in the kitchen sink was overflowed, the air wouldnt turn on (it was over 90 outside), the carpet was horrible, the window in the bedroom was molded, that never got fixed. I wouldnt (& dont) recommend these nasty apartments to anyone!
