First off, I am a resident at Cypress Lake, not a manager, etc. If you are looking for a place to stay, you call me directly at (225) 236-7862 and ask me any questions that you want to.

Second, I'll provide all of the complaints that I have about the apartment complex.

1. Yes, there is only one trash compactor on the complex. It has been a pain to DRIVE my garbage to the trash compactor, and it would be 100% beneficial to get a second trash compactor on the other side of the apartment complex. At times, it does get bad, and TONS of garbage ends up on the OUTSIDE of the compactor.

2. I have had ant problems recently, complained about it, put in a work order, and nothing was done about it. (They contract out bugs/pest termination.) I went out and bought ant traps (less than $15 for a bunch of these), and the problem seemingly has gone away.

3. The roads on my side of the complex is pretty bad in a few spots. The "entrance"/"exit" to the complex (between the Hummer dealership and the Hampton Inn) also has pretty bad roads. I've learned to live with it.

4. I could possibly see how parking is a problem in some parts of the complex. Luckily, I'm in the perfect area, and there are no parking problems where I am. There is a bus that takes up about 5 or 6 parking spots, but usually, there are plenty of spots around it.

5. LIKE ANY OTHER APARTMENT, you'll hear noise from your neighbors. I have children living in the room above me and a party-animal, college guy on the third floor on my side. They're loud, they're annoying... you're in an apartment! GET USED TO IT!

Third, there are tons of positives. I'll only mention a few here.

1. The staff is friendly. Granted, they know you by first and last name when you first move in, but they don't know how you are until you are paying rent. But with so many people there, I don't really expect them to remember me at all. Every time I've stepped into the office, they have greeted me appropriately enough, have been helpful, and have been easy to deal with.

2. Maintennance services are quick and accurate. I've put in several work orders and haven't had to wait for longer than three days to get things done. (A complaint here, though: They are supposed to leave a work order form whenever they enter your apartment. After several work orders, I've only received one form.)

3. A user's past comment on ApartmentRatings talked about -------- on their porch/balcony... that's because they were painting the exterior of the buildings, which look good. They were outside my door for a few days to paint, and I didn't have a problem with it. They covered everybody's cars and all of the things on the porches/balconies.

4. I've only been here since mid January (2008), but I have NOT seen any problems with the gates. But like any mechanical device, there's bound to be some problems. The gate works fine and keeps out people for the most part. (You still have people that piggyback into the complex.)

Again, I have listed my number above, if you're interested in calling me to ask me questions.
