Good, but not the best

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2005
I've lived here since 2002 and, for the most part, it's been a good experience. The staff here is very nice and courteous and always willing to help. The maintenance guys do a very good job and are always available when you need them. I've had a few things happen in my apartment (refridgerator went out and fuses blew) and they were right on top of it.
The noise level is not really a problem. Where my apartment is located is near a pool, so I hear people playing in the pool during the summer months. Other than that, not very loud.
However, there are a few drawbacks. The place is located on Old Hammond just off Sherwood Forest, which is a good location as far as proximity to stuff. However, it's also very close to a run-down, crime-ridden area known as Boulevard de Province. There was a murder down there not too long ago.
Also, the community is not gated and I have suffered for it. My car has been vandalized and broken into THREE times (three different broken windows), with the thieves stealing my CD player one of those times. I am not the only one to suffer this problem, and I am sure that the criminals came from the Boulevard de Province area.
Another drawback is in the apartments themselves. The ventilation is not the greatet, as I have had to use a standing fan to cool my bedroom because the vent in there just doesn't cut it. There is also no ventilation in the bathroom.
Another negative is the parking situation. Driving through the complex is a one-way street, which is not convenient for those on the far side (where I live). Also, they hold Alcoholics Anonymous meetings on some Tuesday nights in the clubhouse and when I come home from work that night, I have nowhere to park because there are dually trucks and motorcycles all over the parking lot taking up resident parking.
The final negative is not really Eden Point's fault. The ongoing construction in front of the complex is a serious hassle. They are expanding Old Hammond to four lanes from Airline Highway west to Boulevard de Province. It has been going on for two years now and it has been such a headache. I am told it will be done by February '06, but I may not be here to see that done.
Overall, I'd recommend if you looking for a decently priced apartment with good service, definitely move here. However, I suggest you invest in a few things before you move here: a car alarm, ceiling or standing fans and good shocks on your car, because those speed bumps in the parking lot are killers.
