Years at this apartment: 1998 - 2002
I lived in the red brick apartments across the street from the white apartments for about four years. Two of which were in a 2 bedroom 1-1/2 bathroom, and the other two in a 1 bedroom 1 bath flat. There were good times and bad times had in these apartments. First the bad news. In the 2 bedroom it seemed as if they wanted to avoid installing new carpet. When we moved in the carpet was already in bad shape. Then a week later, the dishwasher went crazy and flooded the kitchen and drenched the carpet in the dining area. When given an opportunity and a good reason to replace the carpet, they refused and inserted an industrial fan under the carpet for about a day to dry it out. Not a good thing to have a loud fan in your apartment for a day. Additionally, while my truck was parked under a bright light, visible from the road, and while they had security patrolling the complex, my and a few other's vehicles (mostly Chevrolets) were broken into. Also, there was a rodent problem in both apartments that was not taken care of, and there was the occasional loud party. If you are planning to live at PT keep in mind that they only provide 1 year leases, rent seems to increase $15 a year, and the washers and dryers that work are few. OK, enough of the bad. On to the good. If you want to live close to LSU and have access to the bus route, consider this place. (However, it is very difficult to get in and out of the parking lot on football game days, and there is only one visitor lot at the north end of the white apartments. Sorry, I forgot about that bit of bad news) They even have shaded areas for those waiting on the bus. Another plus is if you want a large one bedroom flat, they have one of the largest I have seen in Baton Rouge. See for yourself. Parking is better on the red brick side, and maintenance requests are usually prompt. This place would probably be OK for someone if they do not have a car. I would not suggest this place for women. If you can find something better, go for it.
