A good friend of mine and I moved out hoping to get a good start on life. We went to several apartment complexes and found HP. The staff was friendly and inviting (they all are at first) but consisted mainly of students. Nothing against them but I feel as that certain issues require more experienced workers. At the time, there was no deposit this that and the other so we signed the lease. We were given an inspection sheet for the first 48 hours to write down anything that we found wrong. The list went on and on with what we found wrong. We turned it in, in the time frame given and I personally waited to sit down with someone to discuss the issue, mainly the carpet. I later figured out that I was not the only tenant with carpet issues. Anyways, they reassured me that all carpets had been inspected, cleaned and replaced if needed before move ins. I beg to differ. Other problems were loose cables dangling from the walls, a condom wrapper in my closet and the maintenance closet had its inspection sheet up that read "Fountainbleau Apartments". The last time it carried that name was the 70's, no kidding. It has since gone through 2-3 different name changes. And it does not seem as the landscape has been changed since either.

I had to fight the staff over and over about my minor problems and yet they would not come to my aid. A month in, my roommate noticed that the sheet rock in the ceiling was bursting at the seams thus caving in the ceiling. The head manager, Roxanne, wanted nothing to do with me nor my problems concerning her complex.

Crime- One night after an LSU game, I watched two kids try to break into a series of cars including MINE! I called the police (in which they office was mad because that's a report filed with their name). I again went to Roxanne and she told me to get my bull$#!t out of there, that she had better things to deal with. I quote verbatim. Before I left she reassured me that the courtesy officer was there for a reason. I found her (lady cop) squad car, marked her left rear tire with chalk. I never once saw the chalk move from that spot. (If she were to have backed out, the chalk line would change positions.). My friend in another apartment has walked up to his room to find people jiggling his door handle, cars broken into and one time someone through a brick into their ex-girlfriends window where a baby was sleeping. To top it off, 6 cop cars, a fire truck and ambulance swarmed into my parking lot. The reason- One man chasing after his boyfriend supposedly with a knife. There are no security cameras and the place is just a ---- hole.

Maintenance- You call about a problem and they will come; at 7-8 a.m. the next morning. They knock and then open your door with a master key. Now me personally, I find that to be a little intrusive. I may not be home. I don't trust anyone no matter who they are in my apartment. Imagine if you were a girl or your daughter was in there sleeping and a random man walks in having knocked once or twice. I personally think a "We're sorry we missed you note" would be suitable but to each their own.

Roxanne- I have never met a manager of a business who has cared less. Honestly, we may have given her some hell but there is no excuse for her actions nor the way she talks to people. I have been woken up several times to her pounding at my door at 7:45 in the morning. She ------- first and asks questions later. If you have any problems or situations you had best hope someone in the front office can help you first. The lady in my honest opinion is ill prepared for a job like that and Im really not sure how it stays open. To tell a student to take their -------- out of there because she has better things to do' Give me a break, and I hardly find break ins and theft to be "--------"

The complex is in great location to LSU and is right next door too several gas stations, grocery stores, coffee shops but don't let that fool you. I have nothing to lose from writing this review and have since moved out of that hell hole. This is not a hate letter nor expression of anger just an honest review. I tried time and time again to be peaceful with them and time and time again they have nudged me. When we finally moved out, they sent their supposed fine and here is was was on there;

Carpet Replacement- $1500.00

I had to write a letter threatening legal action if they did not repeal the fine, which they did.

All in all, I would stay away from the place. There are sever other places that are more appropriate to live at. I hope this review was useful.

Teakwood village was a nice place. I had a group of friends there and they rented a 3 bedroom complex and got it for a decent price. Brightside is also a good place though a few things I should mention about that. The place is always alive with partys and things to do but its a serious traffic problem for mornigns and nights. Also they (complexes) normally book pretty fast. I think it would be safe to say that University commons is the top dog in college apts. but goodluck getting your choice there. Ive tried several times and they could only over room space (they pair you). Burbank commons was also a nice place I have visted and my friends have had no complaints. I dont know your budget but I personally looked at Campus Crossing on LSU campus by the gates. They were pricy but their units are fully furnished. Just a few off the top of my head, hope this helped a little.
