I lived there in 07, which ended up just being a nightmare. At first I loved my first apartment, it was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath (It wasn't one of the new ones, but instead one of the recently updated ones in the front.) The gates were either open all the time from some idiot running into them or my card wouldn't work and let me in. The walkthrough gate by my place never locked, despite several attempts to get them to fix it, and them telling us before we moved in that they had someone coming to fix it in a few days. Our alarm system and telephone never worked, despite several attempts to fix it. We originally had a garbage disposal, only to have it break and removed (not replaced'''). My room leaked, resulting in black mold growing in my window. The apartment complex was "kind" enough to move me and my roommate to a new apartment, a shittier one on the bottom floor that smelled awful and wasn't updated like our original. Since we had so many problems, the staff was "kind" enough to give us back part of our deposit (not even the whole thing) & let us out of our lease early. For the price and the hell they will put you through... this place just isn't worth it.

in response to the previous complaint, i have lived here for 2 years. i also live in the front section of the property. i had a garbage disposal in my apartment and it also broke. when i called it into the office they said that the previous resident installed it so they wouldn't be replacing it. which is understandable. if they didn't pay for it in the beginning and these apartments didn't have them when they were built, why would it be their responsibility to replace it?

That's fine and well, but defending RW Day and their lackeys is just this side of unforgivable. The company is horrible, treats its tenants like dirt, and this place in particular operates illegally. They intentionally try to keep deposits in the hopes that younger people won't trouble themselves trying to get them back. If it's not refunded in 30 days without letting the lessee know why it hasn't been refunded, it has to be refunded IN FULL. For some reason, they like to try and ignore this little "law." At any rate, the services there were terrible, my internet worked decently for 3 months out of the year I was there, there were leaks, mildew and mold, and they constantly harassed me about things in the window. This was after such a big fuss was made by myself to actually get things done. I was given notes about maybe an inch of fabric showing around the blinds while the person RIGHT above me had an entire sheet just hanging askew in their window the entire time I was there.

Well you have the right to think what you want. i am just saying they care more now and everyone in the office is actually nice and very outgoing. They call me all the time making sure any maintenance issues are satisfied and i am happy. With a new manager and new office staff, they have really made it a wonderful and fun place to stay!

Hey Anonymous! Thank you so much for staying with us for a year! We appreciate you taking the time out of your day to write a review about Oakbrook Apartments. We take these reviews very seriously and use them as tools for improvement.
In regards to your concerns: I certainly understand your frustration when your apartment leaked causing you to move. Unfortunately, once school starts, the availability of vacant apartments is very sparse. I regret that we did not have a renovated apartment for you to move into. In reference to the gate, I can certainly relate and understand the frustration that our residents encounter with this. We work very promptly to fix the front gate when it is broken. Our hope is that the steep fine that is assessed for breaking the gate will deter people from breaking the gate. The walk gate is also a similar issue. In the future, if you notice the gate is broken, please contact the office promptly so we can ensure to have the contractors come out. The alarm system not functioning is definitely something that should have been handled. The alarms are serviced and maintained by an outside vendor. It is my hope that all residents having alarm issues report them so we can contact Network Multifamily. I apologize that this was not taken care of for you during your stay. Regarding the notices you received about your sheet in the window. Although this is an inconvenience for many of our residents, the lease requires the visibility of your blinds. The reasoning for this is to help the community maintain a uniform appearance which in turn helps keep the property clean. I also understand your frustration with not receiving your move out statement. We work very hard to get the statements out promptly. The move out charges you are referring to are standard deductions that every resident encounters and is outlined in the lease. If you have any questions about charges that you feel were unfairly assessed to you, please contact me so we can work together to get to a solution on these!
. I regret that I was unable to help you when you were living here. We always encourage our residents to express their concerns!
Regards,
Mandi
