How about since moving into Oakbrook in July, there has been ...1.) an electrical fire... fire truck here and all. 2.) No ceiling in the bathroom since Gustav...just some ------- board with holes in it....3.) Hasn't made an effort to finish the ceiling. 4) Washing machine flooded the kitchen. 5) Put a work order in... maintenance said it's fixed! 6. Washed a shirt the next day and the washing machine flooded the whole entire downstairs damaging a computer, and an external hard drive. 7) didn't replace the carpet after the flood, just extracted the water. Same dirty carpet. 8) the lady in the office was rude about everything and nothing is being replaced. 8) the past weekend it rained. It rained inside the apartment and the water filled huge trash cans. 9) NOw the toilet has overflowed. The bathroom is flooded. Because the bathroom is above the kitchen... the ceiling in the kitchen is leaking and about the cave in........

Talk to a lawyer. Sounds like things are the same as ever over there. That place is god---------awful. I'm even surprised at what I'm seeing here. You really should get free rent for a month or two. I mean, you think you pay them money for their property so that they have to turn around and use it on repairs and give you a decent place to live? How stupid, huh? That place is a damn nightmare.

I lived in Oakbrook, while my leaking issues were NO WHERE near yours, I can relate. This is what you need to do: 1. Buy a calendar. Write down every time you HAVE talked to management, filed a complaint, had them inform you they 'fixed' something, WHATEVER! You need to keep this updated for your records and protection. 2. TAKE PICTURES!!! I cannot stress this enough. Take as many pictures as possible of everything inside and OUT your apartment. Again, for your protection. 3. Look for black mold. Yup. Black mold. If you find it (like I did.. mine was on my window) TAKE PICTURES!!! But more importantly... don't clean it. If you find it, as unlucky as you are (because it's a HUGE health concern) you're actually really lucky. Black mold will not only get you out your lease, it means they HAVE TO give you a new apartment (if you actually still want to live there) because yours is unliveable. Inform the management. Explain you either A. Will be moving out, have informed your lawyer of the mold, and they will be paying you for the months of unliveable rent your deposit back OR they will be repaying your for the months of unliveable rent & giving you a NEW safe apartment.
Alright... if you don't find black mold (which I would be really surprised by how the conditions of your apartment sound) it's onto these steps. Head back to the office (preferably with an parent, because apparently management respects them... or at least that was the case when i lived there). SHOW THEM THE PICTURES. Inform them AGAIN of every problem you are having with your apartment. There should be a little sheet you are supposed to fill out when you have complaints that you check the boxes and write details under all the issues p.s. ANYWAY. If that doesn't work... now that you have all your proof... contact a lawyer.

Hey Anonymous! Thank you so much for staying with us for a year! We appreciate you taking the time out of your day to write a review about Oakbrook Apartments. We take these reviews very seriously and use them as tools for improvement. We understand the frustration our residents have experienced as we continue to make repairs from Gustav. We know the repairs have taken some time and appreciate everyone's patience during this time. If you are still experiencing interior difficulties or damages from the hurricane, please contact the office so we may make necessary repairs.
In regards to your concerns about the electrical fire; the electrical issue that you are referring to was found to be a sparking outlet that the resident called 911 for. On call maintenance was promptly notified of the issue and came out to change the outlet. As far as your concerns regarding the overflowing washer, I sincerely apologize that you had to deal with this as I know it is an inconvenience. Unfortunately, there are some maintenance issues that arise from normal wear and tear on our appliances. I??m glad to hear maintenance was prompt to respond and make necessary repairs while sending someone out to ensure the water that got on your carpet was taken care of. I apologize that you had a bad experience with one of our staff members. It is not typical that we get complaints on customer service as we pride ourselves on giving excellent service to all our residents. I hope your experiences going forward were more pleasant. In the future if you have concerns regarding your apartment, please contact me!
Regards,
Mandi
