Nice but don't live on the first or second floor!

Overall the apartments are nice, but they are cheaply built and have poorly insulated ceilings. I have lived in a 1st floor apartment for 6 months now and my upstairs neighbor has been quite a nuisance. He stomps around at all hours of the day (early morning and late at night) and it sounds like a herd of elephants lives above me (no exageration.) My neighbors have told me that they have experienced the same problem with their upstairs neighbors. The ugly ducks that roam the property are also a nuisance and they don't even belong to this complex. The ducks can fly and they frequently swim in the pool. This is very unsanitary and poses a potential health problem to tenants. Tenants illegally park in the handicapped parking spots and the management does nothing about it! You have to call the police to get any results. I have had no problem with maintenance or the office personnel. It is a secure complex with access gates, but solicitors do manage to get through every now and then. The fitness center is nice and the complex has 2 pools, but they are small. Pets are allowed but tenants do not follow the pet rules. They don't keep their pets on a leash and they let them defecate in common areas. Cats are unattended and run wild at night. Beware that 6 month lease terms are available but if you decide to renew your lease the price will increase drastically. The apartment has a washer & dryer which is very convenient, but the washing machines are noisy. The fireplace adds a nice touch, but it's very small. The grounds are well-kept, but be prepared to be awaken at 7:00am in the morning by weedeaters and lawn mowers. I have had no problem with mold, the air conditioner or roaches. The complex is close to grocery stores, gas stations, and restaurants. It's also close to the interstate. Overall, I like the apartment and would not have had such a bad experience if I would not have had an upstairs neighbor. If you decide to move here, I would advise you to rent a 3rd floor apartment to avoid the upstairs neighbor problem.
