Too much hassle for the price.

My husband and I only stayed here a few months. When we first moved in, the water heater did not work. It took three visits from maintenance to get it fixed correctly, and even then we never had hot water for longer than 15 minutes. The a/c did not work for the first week, which required two more maintenance visits. The apartments are not spacious for the price you pay, and the area is often noisy. There are some ridiculous rules - curtains/blinds must be white facing the outside' Let's see. The manager was rude, but Nicole and Angela were great (the true assets to the complex). The fitness center was tiny. We loved the animals that cohabited with us, such as the ducks in the ditch and the cats in the maintenance shed. Minimum security, although police officers stay there at discounted rates' We were required to have parking tags that I don't think were even checked. Oh, and (yay!) if you make it through 5 years of rising rent rates (it rises every year, I was told), you get your own parking space. Which reflects the lack of parking in this complex.

In addition to our mediocre experience at Sherwood Acres, they allowed us to break our lease early because we gave over a 30 day notice - HOWEVER - we were required to leave behind our $200 deposit and 2 months rent, not to mention an extra $75 bucks that should have been reimbursed to us in overpayments. When we made the last payment due, the lady (her name escapes me, sadly) told us we owed the security deposit. What' The one we paid before we even moved in' Hello' We left the apartment in immaculate condition, so there was no way we were paying her anything else. So after much discussion, we left it at that. And we will never go back.

I agree, I left a $800 deposit and left them without a 30day notice because I felt my safety was threatned and they still demanded their rent of $525 after an attempted break in. I figure they owe me money because they have over charged me for not having security for the year I was there. They are theives, that get away with it. And guess what?? I living on the out skirts of the complex. I can't imagine having been nestled in this arm pit of the ghetto. Shame on them
