Southgate Towers- an embarrassment to Baton Rouge and LSU

"Southgate Towers has you covered, with an awesome array of amenities not to be found anywhere else in Baton Rouge. Youre going to want to be here for years to come and enjoy every second of it." - quoted directly from the Southgate Towers Website.

Take it from an 8-month resident of Southgate Towers, these "awesome array of amenities" can and are ONLY found somewhere else in Baton Rouge and I WILL NOT be here for years, or even seconds more than I have to be- and most of all, i have NOT enjoyed every second of being here, in fact, I have NOT ENJOYED A SINGLE MOMENT.

Nice things Southgate promised me and were given to me in a timely fashion:

1. the apartment
2. a large roman tub
3. Granite counter tops

Nice things southgate promised me and WERE NEVER GIVEN TO ME:

1. stained concrete floors ( Since the floors were being finished as I was scheduled to move in, I am now being FORCED to move out all my belongings by a certain date for them to be refinished-- as is everyone else that lives in tower 3.)

2. Stainless steel appliances that were promised to residents that live on the 6th and 7th floors.

3. Hot water and high water pressure provided on a daily basis

4. People to hang all pictures etc... in concrete walls. (I had to hire someone to come do it myself.)

5. Pool, cabana bar, hot tub etc..
6. full spectrum health club
7. tanning bed facilities
8. game room
9. concierge services
10. meditation garden ( the "view" i am paying for is the meditation garden, cleverly disguised as a construction site)
AND THE LIST GOES ON.....

Imagine this... after a hard week of work and midterms, you finally are able to relax at your high-rise apartment complex. After finally falling asleep, in your comfortable bed and finally feeling relaxed, BAMMM! ALL the fire alarms start going off, sounding like a train coming through your living room. Yep, thats about what we feel like every morning or night that the fire alarms decide to go off randomly for extended periods of time.

I also agree that the dog that chose to make Southgate Towers his home is the best amenity it has to offer.

I was not provided secuity guards/gate (which i paid for) the first couple of months i live here.

Also, there is a discrepency with the gate system since there is ONLY a call box on the outside of the gate, leaving visitors already inside the complex with the option of escaping by jumping the gate or breaking out through the back entrance of a long hall way. ( us residents will NOT walk every visitor down from the seventh floor for them to be able to leave.)

It is also a shame that I live on the 7th floor and waste a ridiculous amount of money on gas, driving in circles up the parking garage when the elevator does not work. While on this topic, I guess they do provide a "state of the art work out facility" by making us climb 7 flights of stairs on a weekly basis when the elevators are broken.

Most of all, it is an embarrassment that this is the first impression that LSU's new head football coach has to see of Baton Rouge, having Southgate Towers as his residence.
Finally, I must say, this is about as unprofessional and unorganized establishment I have ever seen and probably will ever see.

I could go on for days, but bottom line: Southgate Towers has potential to be a great place, but not in the near future - STAY AWAY.

You are a cheap bastard - you can afford to live on the 7th floor (i.e. PENTHOUSE), but you can't spend less than 8 cents to drive less than a fourth of a mile up to the 7th floor in the parking garage.... go figure.
