To begin our story, we were promised an apartment in a tower 2. Our move-in was pushed back 5-6 months. We had to renew our lease at our old place month to month. The landlord kept saying, "I thought you were getting a new place'" Our friends thought we were pathological liars about moving. At long last, we got an apartment where someone moved out.
We paid our $500 deposit in 2 payments. Upon moving in, we were asked to pay another $250. They had no records of our 2 prior payments. We had to provide bank statements that $250 had been taken out of the bank account twice from Southgate Towers in order to not have to pay another $250. I also have a cat that I got for free. The cat's deposit was just as much as mine. I was thinking, "why should I pay $500 fee/deposit for my cat, when that DINGO stays here for free'" Not that I have anything against the dog.
I am a member of the Spectrum fitness center and I know that all of the old equipment has been removed and replaced by new machines. Southgate has taken the old machines from Spectrum and put them in the temporary resident center. That is our "Spectrum Fitness Center." Upstairs, the printer never has paper and the ink is always out in the computer room.
I love the minature garbage chute. Having to take trash out multiple times a day is such a joy. I love getting garbage juice all over me, yum.
One Saturday night, my father came over because my brother was in town from Atlanta. We ate pizza and had soft drinks (no alcohol mind you) and were laughing about old times, when the doorbell rang. I was face to face to with an intimidating security guard with a pen and a notebook. He told us that we were being too loud on a Sat. night at 10:00 pm. What are they going to do, fine my dad for coming over. But the loud noises of drunken idiots I hear at 2:30 AM in apartments above me never seem to go away after Fredrick's of Tigerland closes down. This seems to be the time when the security takes a well-deserved nap from the strenuous schedule they have.
It must be hard to complete this facility when all day long the construction workers are running back and forth to Mc Donald's with dreams of Happy Meals and ice cream sundaes. And at our resident party, 6-10 construction workers made sure to take an hour or two off of work to go to the roof and eat. Are they diabetic'
So far I have not had a good experience. I hate having to explain to my friends why certain things in our $970 apartment have not been completed, such as why we overlook mud, how they can't leave unless I take them, why we don't have a pool, spectrum, or stores we were promised. I want to know who their advertiser is who made the brochure to con all of us into living here. That person is a genius because they sure fooled me. It shows people shopping, in spas, etc. I wouldn't be so negative if I wasn't promised all these things in the first place. I apologize for my hostility but it is where I pay to live.
