Better Ammenities but still BAD LIVING ENVIRONMENT

I too have lived at SG since its opening in Aug '04. I have lived through the worst of it, with the hope of the better coming. Also, I am not one of the people who have problems with the staff, I always find them to be pleasent (since the main stressors have left), and although I am in college, my parents don't pay for anything! And, I do mean absolutely nothing! Everything I do is on my own, from my own money and lots of school loans. Anyway, now that I've replied to that... Yes, it has gotten somewhat better, but their are still too many problems that a 2 yr. old community should not be dealing with. For instance, we still live in a construction zone. They are still in the process of repairing many of the faults of the bad construction. There are still cranes out every morning that you still get to wake up to hearing the beeping of the machines. Things as major as the work they are doing, should not have to be done when the complex is only 2 years old! Plus, even more of a construction zone is yet to come! I especially would hate to be one of the people living in tower 4 who are going to get the worst of it when they finally build the condos. Or, for that matter, if they even ever do so, since they were supposed to be ready for move in during August 2005, now they're saying Jan '07, but they haven't even broke ground yet! There is no way they are going to be ready in time, just like these apartments. Plus, I hope for their sake that MAPP isn't going to be the construction company they use again. They still haven't even finished Tiger Stadium that was supposed to be done before Fall 2005 semester, and I doubt it will be done by Fall 2006 semester! And, even if some things have gotten better, like they finally opened the concierge service center last week that was supposed to be ready in '04, the construction is still bad, you can still hear everything throughout the apartment and the halls (NO SOUNDPROOFING WHAT SO EVER), you still can hear the water coming down the apartments, the apartments still leak when it rains, you still have little if any hot water etc. Yes the ammenities have gotten better, but the living experience, the real reason why you live here, to have a comfortable living environment, still has serious problems. Not to mention, another little tidbit about one problem with ammenities I received from the police dept. Don't choose to pay for the maid service SG offers as part of their concierge service! One girl on the 7th floor came home early from vacation to find that the maid had been living in her apartment!

First of all, at what point did I mention anything about the staff being rude? I said that I actually get along with the staff. Secondly, thank you for admitting that construction has been your problem the whole time. As I said in my above statement, I understand that you can't control it and hope that ya'll don't use MAPP in the future, who has proven to be a very unreliable company. The main problem lies in the construction company. And yes they do have a lot going on around town that they are constructing, which makes me even more weary of any company using them. Are they pulling themselves in too many directions? Plus an article in the Reveille the other day read that the stadium may be done by the next football season. What's funny about this is that it MAY be done, when it was supposed to be done for last football season! I in no way blame SG, it's employees, or it's affiliates for the construction problem, because it is in fact MAPP's problem. Thirdly, the very fact that you mentioned that in the soundproofing you don't hear anything that you don't hear at other properties proves my point! Southgate is supposed to be better than other properties, and one of your many selling points was soundproofing! If I can still hear everything that I would hear at other properties that only serves to tell me that I would be just as well living at a place like Tiger Plaza or UH than paying more to live at SG. As far as hearing the bathrooms running down the walls, I have stayed at many multi-story hotels before, one of which ya'll had to put me in b/c my apartment wasn't ready on time, and I have never heard water running down the walls! Granted in my apartment the sound of the water rushing down isn't nearly as bad as what I have heard in other people's apartments. As far as the hot water goes, they were supposed to fix that a long time ago, when a work order was put in! And as far the maid service incident, it doesn't matter if it is the same maid service that you will be using for the conceirge service (for ya'll's sake I hope it isn't) b/c as you stated it was contracted out by ya'll. Ya'll are still the one's who hired them to serve the purpose of optional housekeeping. I wouldn't want to use this optional service or any other housekeeping service ya'll hire or "contract out" to do my housekeeping, w/ what seems to be an ever-growing bad judgement on someone's part in the company when it comes to choosing who should be hired or "out sourced" to take care of things around here. Not to mention, you don't deny that it isn't true, and you can't because the fact that it happened is true, and the police report proves it. But, you also didn't address the issue of the apartments leaking when it rains. Now everyone on the second floor is to have maintenance people set up on boards looking into their windows as the grout is finally being fixed in the brick work. Once again, I don't blame ya'll for this, it is definitely, once again, a construction problem. Also, you didn't address the issue of the property being turned into a construction zone once again for the condominiums that are supposed to be ready in less than a year, although, again I hope ya'll don't use MAPP, especially when the ground hasn't even been broken yet, or you may find yourselves in another situation as you are now with so many construction problems.

Not being rude, but you didnt read what I said. 1. The maid service issue- in no way was it something set up or contracted out by the concierge dept. CONCIERGE STARTED WEDNESDAY 2/8/06. So the bad judgement was made by the person who hired the person to clean their apt, not SGT. So police report or not, SGT is in no way at fault for someone else asking someone to do something for them. 2. MAPP is the problem for everything-Work orders where done and completed, understand that there are new apt. restrictions on temp of hot water, because of babies and little kids getting burned- they require scald gaurds now which is the problem with the hot water, it causes cold water to be pumped in when the water gets to hot. 3. Soundproofing- once again you didnt understand what i wrote, windows and doorways are where you hear noise from the outside and only when you are right by them, unless something is right by your apartment. 4. The points that you said that I didnt address, they were when I talked about MAPP being our problem. SGT has been under construction for almost 2 years and will last until all 10 towers, hotel, bank, conference center, and additional retail are built, so the property hasnt been turned into a construction zone, its been a work in progress. Its like a warranty on something you buy, most are at least a year, so that is what we are using. The condo construction all of that is a totally different issue that doesnt even concern the apartment side. I do appreciate the fact that you understand that this is ultimately not or fault but certain comments that you made should have never been mention in this forum. When you do all of the research and get all of the information, then you truly understand the task in front of you. Point out the issues, but dont start rumors, because you have partial information. |
