why didn't I sign a shorter lease

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I really enjoyed my stay in HELL. Every night I enjoyed waking up to the sound of $200 cars with loud stereos. But sometimes it good to get up early and make sure it wasn?t your car that just got broke in to. The ladies in the office are professional liars, and professional salesman David copperfield would love to learn how they disguise the apartments as livable, every month when something broke they assured me they were sending someone out right away. They also didn?t prorate our rent during times things were broke no sir these little life lesson were free of charge, at least for them. The maintence time schedule is as follows:
disposal broke: 1 week
window broke: it?s ok hardly noticeable
door rotted and falling apart: 3 weeks
a/c broke: 1 month( now I know when your in someone?s house fixing things you want to make yourself feel right at home, sure 70 degrees is a bit warm and 30 degrees is better for testing your work. But when you come home later that evening and find your door left unlocked and your house at a polar bear loving 30 degrees, the joy of your a/c being fixed is cut short by the sub artic ramblings of the man paying the electric bill, I?m still not sure whether or not my 2 hundred dollar electric bill was caused by high amp electric razor or a/c, thanks for fixing it St. Jean your the best!
no hot water: 3 weeks( when the maintenance guy finally came he said" Oh your pilot light went out", I?m noting this in the history books man discovers fire, pilot light goes out, it takes man 3 weeks to discover fire again)
lake in living room: I?m sure they?ll be right over.( if my letter sounds a little harsh so far get up tomorrow morning at 5am to get ready for work, put your socks on then try and make it to your shoes without getting them wet, for all those that try this we?ll be starting an anger management class next week
I think that the reason they were always so busy is because of all the amenities they provide: tennis courts with no net, open fields of mud, pool that makes has it?s grand opening the last week of summer to bring together skin, hair, fungus, leaves, and insects in one grandiose design. Of course who needs a pool when each day for a month so far I?ve enjoyed the outdoor smells of molded carpet as I slosh through my newly flooded carpet reaching around and turning on ELECTRICAL appliances. Lets stop and spell:
HEALTH HAZARD
For entertainment value it?s great once a week as they disconnected my cable because one of our neighbors didn?t pay and they accidentally disconnected the wrong cable, I could sit on my porch enjoying the stench of our septic tank, that?s right St. Jean is not connected to the city sewage a mere 18th century invention, as I watched family discuss their problems at a high decibel, police chase our future leaders of tomorrow over the fence, and heated negotiations over today?s pharmaceutical products. About your cable, COX gives St. Jean a free cable account called a courtesy account, which they do for a lot of businesses. St jean gives you a group discount on cable, like most apartments, that you have to pay through them, cost $35 normal cost of cable $35. Now my calculator maybe wrong but the price difference I?m getting is zero. I give nice little facts about St Jean throughout my review please read further.
So when my lease ran up I was ready to leave, of course they posted our final notice documents on the outside of the door during one of the wettest summer I can recall, not taking in to account that paper and water don?t mix. There was no phone call just the paper they said they left so we had to stay an additional month in order to leave the thirty-day notice required by law. I know that somehow it was my fault to expect them to call or at least put important papers in my mailbox. I mean when someone goes to all the trouble to get into a golf cart and drive 100 feet just to deliver something you should be grateful that they gave of 15 minutes of there day to help you.
Most of the residents I have met here have had the same problem so before you rent here knock on some doors and ask tenants not landlords what they think of the property. Make sure you Knock on more than one because some don?t care these are the tenants that are section 8 substadized and don?t actually work to pay for a place to live, this is another fact they don?t tell you before you move in. The people who are complaining are like me working to pay for an apartment.
As for the good reviews that were left, this is a free website, who besides a landlord would leave a good rating describing quantity of apartment like sq. footage, amenities, bedrooms, nearby businesses and roads, what it cost to continue living on a month to month basis also Mr. throwed-off really is throwed off you should look up what it means to be a gated community. A past tenant wouldn?t give just facts because they would want to make it personal and express good or bad feelings and experiences they had and state quality like condition, landlord tenant relationship, etc. View some other apartment reviews and you?ll clearly be able to see what I?m talking about. I also challenge you to try to contact them through the positive review I bet they?ll be happy to give you a referral. So if you do rent here I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
