LOVE IT

Years at this apartment: 2001-01-01 - 2003-01-01
I would like to start off by saying that I am an older student and going on my third year of living in Tiger Plaza. It is absolutely wonderful! I must first acknowledge the wonderful maintenance men and staff. They do an excellent job of listening to their residents and then taking care of any problems that may arise. There are some important points that I would like to comment on, when one is considering renting an apartment in Baton Rouge. I first went to a rental agency, when first looking for apartments to live in. Almost every apartment, in a decent area around campus, was about in the same price range. First of all, most people that live around LSU are either young undergraduate students or older graduate students. After doing your research of the area, you will find that most apartments in the college area may seem pretty pricy. However, when you take into consideration all of the added expenses, you will often realize that living in an apartment that includes almost all of your utilities, can be a wise choice. Tiger Plaza includes everything except electricity, which is also offered to you at a discounted bulk rate. The utilties and amenities that are included in your rent include: water, cable, alarm system and monoriting, private telephone lines and answering services in each bedrooms, high speed internet, washer/dryer, walk-in closets, and a cyber cafe (which has computers, a fax machine, a copy machine, a coffee and cappuccino machine, free cookies, and best of all a ATM machine). Try living in a house or apartment and paying for phone service with voicemail, cable, alarm service, and high speed internet, BELIEVE ME- it adds up. (IT's also very nice, not to have to write as many checks to all those companies). The apartments are very conviently located next to LSU and there is also a bus that picks you up in front of the complex. The complex will also be a gated community by the end of this summer. For those people, who complain that the complex is noisy, then try living in the study district at Tiger Plaza. There are restricted quiet hours for the residents who reside in those buildings. If you are a partying college student, then you might want to live in the front of the complex, where the bars are at your back door. (I did it my first year and had a blast!) And last if you want to live in an area, that is not too quiet and not too noisy, then try living in the middle of the complex, next to cyber cafe or around one of the three swimming pools. By the way, the pools are kept up in the summertime. The maintenance men do an EXCELLENT job of filling the work orders. They are very friendly and know many of the residents by a first name basis. The apartments have been remolded and look very modern inside. What I like most about this complex is being able to walk in the office and being greeted by a smile. The staff is great. They even do resident appreciation parties. (Image this: the other day, I was laying out by the pool and one of the staff members came by the pool and started handing out popsicles to the residents!) The complex is very safe and extremely well lit. There are two courtesy officers, which live on the property and patroll the area. The volleyball court and pools are also a great place to meet other residents. I have greatly enjoyed my two years living here and I am looking forward to residing here during my last year of law school. I would highly recommend renting an apartment at Tiger Plaza.
